Micro stutter playing recorder and live TV (nextPVR)

Hi so I have recently got a new mini PC with Intel arc and I'm having micro stutter issues playing live and recorded TV using nextPVR. It's a continual micro stutter It just looks like it's not playing 100% smooth like everything else does.

I've googled everything I can find and still issues.

I think I narrowed it down to the Intel graphics card

I copied a recording onto a USB and plugged it directly into the TV to see if it stutter during playback directly. It was smooth and did not stutter.

So it looks like it's only an issue on the PC.

I've played these files back through next PVR, Kodi, VLC, windows media player etc. And stutter

Any other type of media file on the PC plays fine it's only this specific live TV or recording. nextPVR files are .ts apparently they use that because you can watch it while it's being recorded.

Any suggestions for things to look at?
Have att a screen shot of PC specs

Hi dallascowboy23

Thank you for posting in the community!

It seems you're experiencing stuttering when playing videos. To better understand and address this issue, I have a few questions for clarification. Please answer the following:

  • Since you mentioned using a mini PC, could you provide the exact model so I can look up its specifications?
  • What version of the graphics driver is currently installed on your system?
  • Can you confirm whether other file extensions play smoothly, and if the stuttering is specific to .ts files?
  • Have you used Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to completely remove the driver before installing a new one?

Additionally, to gain a comprehensive understanding of your system, please use the System Support Utility (SSU). This tool will generate a text file compiling all your system information. You can follow the instructions at this link and send the text file here: Help Guide for the Intel® System Support Utility

The model of the mini PC is "beelink sei14"  with 32g ram

Graphics driver version is 25.14.1302.1

So the TS files are the only ones that stutter in Kodi, VLC, and the standard windows media player.

I have since tried the MPC-HC player that comes with the k-lite codec pack and this player plays the .ts files smoothly.

So maybe it's a codec issue and not a Intel driver issue?

Have not used the DDU yet.

SSU text file att

thanks for the help so far

Hi dallascowboy23

Thank you for your prompt response. I'm curious to see how the issue appears on your PC. Could you please share a screen recording or video demonstrating the problem? Additionally, if the application has any settings, a screenshot of those would be helpful for reference.

Also, please share the link from which you downloaded the application.

After that, I recommend updating your driver to the latest version (32.0.101.6795) using DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller). You can follow the steps below, but first, please download the driver from this link:

  • Download the latest version of the software.
    • If you download the Installer, run it, it will create a shortcut on the desktop.
    • If you download the Portable/ self-extracting version, look for the executable and extract it. Remember the path.

  1. Disconnect your system from the internet and ensure that your wireless connection does not reconnect automatically. To do this, disable the 'Connect automatically' option for your Wi-Fi network.
  2. Reboot into Windows* safe mode. (Refer to Start your PC in safe mode in Windows.)
  3. Look for the shortcut on the desktop (step 1.1) or the extract path chosen (step 1.2.1) and run the DDU executable.
  4. Click Close in the Options window.
  5. Select device type to GPU and select device to INTEL.
  6. Click Clean and restart or Clean and Shutdown depending on your needs.
  7. Wait for the software to finish the process and which will automatically reboot Windows to the typical mode or shutdown the system.

Once you've completed the steps, please let me know the outcome. If the issue persists, kindly include a video file in your reply preferably in the

.ts format to assist in further investigation.

So.... I'm beginning to think it's a codec issue with the player as opposed to the Intel driver graphics.

I already had the k-lite codec pack installed and I thought I would try the MPC-HC player that is apparently has all the codecs to run everything.

And the .TS files actually run smooth in that player but none of the others.

So whatever codex that play has is enough to run the TS file completely smooth.

I took a video of the micro stutter running through Kodi but the camera for some reason doesn't pick it up but actually looks smoother playing back on my phone that it does to my eyes. So I don't think the video will be helpful for you.

By application do you mean Kodi the media player I'm using?

I have also done the steps to remove and add the new graphics driver and still the same issue through Kodi.

I'm going to try and see if I can get kodi to use the external player that plays it smoothly.

Not ideals have to do that but it looks like that might be my only option if there's nothing wrong with the graphics card set up.

Hi dallascowboy23,

I want to ensure I fully understand your concern. Could you please summarize the details for me? From what I've gathered, you initially used the nextPVR application to play a .ts video file, but experienced micro stutters. You then tried other media players like Kodi, VLC, and MPC-HC, but the issue persisted. However, after installing the K-Lite Codec Pack with MPC-HC, the video played smoothly.

  1. Is it correct that the K-Lite Codec Pack resolved the issue?
  2. Is this codec pack only compatible with MPC-HC?
  3. Additionally, could you recommend which media player I should use to replicate the issue on my end?

Furthermore, could you provide the .ts video file you're using? This would allow me to test it and see if I experience the same micro stutters.

Yes I already had the k-lite codec pack installed while all the other players still had stutter so I assume they are not using any of the codecs, or at least the ones required for .ts files.

Every single other player had the micro stutter.

It's only the MPC player that runs 100% smooth.

Do you mean you want a full file to test? They are about 1gig I wouldn't know how to send them to you.

Hi dallascowboy23

Assuming you're using players like NextPVR, Kodi, VLC, or Windows Media Player—are you experiencing the microstutters you mentioned with all of them? And just to confirm, when using MPC with the K-Lite Codec Pack, the microstuttering issue does not occur?

If possible, please upload the video file to Google Drive and share the download link with me so I can use it for replication.

Yes correct. Micro stutter with ALL players except for MPC player

He is a link for a recording
I'm not sure how it will react being that it's been uploaded to my drive.

Hopefully it does the stutter for you too. It's not super obvious stutter. It's real micro. Like it just isn't running 100% smooth.

Hi dallascowboy23,

I have another recommendation based on the latest release notes. There are updates available with versions 32.0.101.6876 and 32.0.101.6877 for testing. Please try updating to version 6876 first using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU). If the issue persists, proceed with updating to version 6877 using DDU as well. Thank you for your cooperation, and please let me know the outcome.

Additionally, could you confirm if the visual artifacts you're experiencing match those shown in the video? Then, compare the visual artifacts with the image provided to see if they are the same when fast-forwarding or backtracking the video.

So I have updated the graphics driver with both updates using DDU

Unfortunately still the same issue. It must just be a codec issue 🤷‍♂️

I do not get the glitching in the picture. And I don't get the large stutter like in your video.

Maybe that's because it was uploaded to Google drive?

The micro stutter I get is like it's just not playing 100% smooth. Like it's 98-99% but enough to notice and be annoying.

It has to just be a codec issue and not graphics if the MPC player can pay ok but not Kodi 🤷‍♂️

Thanks for trying and helping. I'll just have to deal with it I guess.

Hi @dallascowboy23

Thank you for your patience. After replicating the issue, we found that your assumption is correct: it is highly likely that the codec installed in the playback software is causing the problem. The fact that the MPC player functions without any issues indicates that the iGPU is not the root cause. Therefore, I recommend contacting the playback software's support team for further assistance.

I will be closing this inquiry. If you need further assistance, please feel free to submit a new question, as this thread will no longer be monitored.
