Monitor does not sleep with latest Intel GFX drivers

Hi, so I installed the latest drivers for my HD2500 GFX, I noticed they fixed the issues with the CYBCr resting itself but now my monitor does not go to sleep, it just goes to a black screen and stays powered on, anyone else have this problem, any fix available apart from using an older driver that have the CYBCr issue.

Cheers.

Hi

Just came here as I have the same issue.

Intel board: DZ77BH-55K with Intel i7 3770, Windows 7 64Bit

DELL monitor connected by DisplayPort, second LCD monitor connected by DVI.

DELL monitor does not sleep or standby when told to by Windows, LCD monitor on DVI does.

Problem only with the latest Intel graphics drivers version 9.18.10.316, rolling back to the previous drivers and the monitor behaves normally and switches to standby.

By the way the new Intel Control panel is hideous using the Windows 8 style of all white space and huge graphics, I've stayed with Windows 7 for a reason!

Regards

Phil

Hello All,

Can you guys try with one monitor connected to the motherboard? If possible test it with HDMI, DVI or VGA and/or other monitor.

Let me know.

Thanks

Kevin, tried with 1 single monitor on HDMI and then one single monitor on DVI.

Yields the same non sleep results. Monitors go black but never go into deep sleep or shut off.

I'm also going to review the settings in BIOS to make sure its sleep mode friendly. I think I posted my stats earlier but I have a 4770k on an Asus Z89 Pro motherboard: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Z87PRO/ Z87-PRO - Motherboards - ASUS

Thanks and let me know if anything else I can try.

Just tried turning on all sorts of power saving functions of the BIOS. Something called ASPM and a few other things to deal with the PCIe Bus but none of the changed anything.

Look this is not an error on the user side , it's on Intel's side so they have to go and correct it, I hope they are doing that now.

Yes, I believe you are correct. I would have never seen this unless my AMD 6950 went out on me and am currently shopping for a replacement.

Running windows 8.1 preview and there is an Intel driver update version 9.18.10.3200, this through windows update, the monitor issue is fixed in this release. So should see an official release soon.

Hello All,

I've been trying to replicate the problem you guys are having and I haven't been able to do so. I have tested different monitors (Dell, Asus and AOC) but everything is working just fine for me.

Please check both Dxdiag reports attached from the units I have been testing.

Based on these two reports, the Intel® driver 3165 is working fine from our side. I recommend you once again the operating system from scratch and installing also the monitor drivers. Try testing the system without installing the Windows* updates. Once this has been done, you can try installing windows updates and then testing the system again.

So you are asking to do a fresh install, no Windows Updates, install drivers and test?

I use Active@ Boot Disk so this will be no problem.

Did you try with Gigabyte Z87X-UD3H motherboard and screen connected to the HDMI port?

I have the driver version which you requested and problem persist. I can not install my Windows from scratch to prove that the driver has some bug. Here is my dxdiag info:

Kevin, I can prove this is an issue with the Intel drivers...

If you will please.

1. Fresh install of Windows 8 x64 on Asus Z87Pro Motherboard, 4770k Processor, 16 Gigs of DDR3 2133 GSkill RAM and a Samsung 27" and a BestBuy Insignia 39" screen.

2. No drivers loaded.

3. Set monitor sleep time to 1 minute

4. Monitors DO sleep fine. This is using the "Microsoft Basic Display Driver"

5. Next install the Intel 3165 drivers, once again no other drivers loaded for motherboard.

6. Monitors do NOT sleep.

7. Re-image back to normal set up.

Links to DX Diag reports before and after...

Before ANY drivers here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/31360541/INtel/DxDiag%20-%20No%20Drivers.txt https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/31360541/INtel/DxDiag%20-%20No%20Drivers.txt

After JUST the display driver here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/31360541/INtel/DxDiag%20-%20No%20Drivers.txt https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/31360541/INtel/DxDiag%20-%20No%20Drivers.txt

I have no doubt that its the drivers. Let me know if there is anything else you can test. I have the liberty of dumping my OS at any time.

Im about to load up an Ubuntu stable release and see how that goes... Will let you know shortly.

Fresh install of Ubuntu 12.04.2

No specific Intel drivers loaded. Gnome XScreensaver set to sleep monitors at 1 minute... (Blank Screen Only with power off checked)

Worked fine.

Updated Ubuntu (295 packages)....

No specific Intel drivers loaded. Screens sleep fine.

I hope this helps!

I have also experienced my Dell monitor not going into power save when connected with a mini DP to DP video cable to an ASUS z87-plus with a 4670 cpu running Win8. I swapped the DP cable for a DVI video cable and the problem stopped. It seems the common thing here is the video drivers since the problem occurs across multiple platforms using HDMI or DP cables. I will live with the DVI solution until a solution for this issue is found.

I can confirm this problem too running the latest driver , Intel HD4000, I5-3570K, Z77 chipset, Samsung 55" TV via HDMI

When uninstalling the latest driver, and installing the previous driver the problem goes away.

I've done it a couple of times now, and it's the same every time.

What I did notice was with the latest drivers, the HD4000 didn't recognize my TV.

With the working previous driver, it finds "Samsung Television".

With the new non-working driver, it's just "Plug and Play Monitor"

Could this be a hunch?

I hate to be a "me too", but this problem persists through the latest Win8 64 bit driver. Gigabyte Z87X-UD3H connected to HDMI, just like a previous poster - and the HDMI display will not sleep. I have two identical displays with one on the DVI port, which sleeps just fine. This is obviously a problem with the HDMI on these intel display adapters. Unfortunately, the only driver for me to roll back to is the previous one from March, which also has the issue.

I cannot believe that this problem has not been fixed yet!

Hello I just wanted to chime in and report that I'm having the same issue as the other users in this thread. I have the Asus Z87-Pro motherboard with a i7 4770K processor with a Asus MX279 monitor. Now when the monitor is connected to VGA it will go into sleep state but once connected to HDMI monitor will not go into sleep state but will black the screen. Please let me know what I can do to help so this issue can be fixed for all of us.

I do not know why, but I've had this problem

1. My previous system Intel DH67(B3) and Win8(x64).

2. Replace the motherboard (Zotac H87ITX-A-E), but did not reinstall the operating system if only I did not have this problem.

3. However, a new motherboard when you reinstall the operating system had a problem.

4. I'm in the old system disk [windows\system32] folder on the driver software update to resolve this problem was successfully fix it.

Not be helpful, but I'll tell you my information

Install the driver to get as soon as possible, please:)

FWIW, I have a brand spanking new Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD5H which uses the Intel HD Graphics 4600 chip/drivers. I have the same issue, where the monitor screen is merely blanked rather than going into power save mode, when Windows 7 power management turns off the display. Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be any older drivers for me to try.
