I have a Dell Inspiron 5537 with the HD4400 video card. I use MediaShout for presentations and it can provide a "Stage Display" 3rd screen via a DisplayLink
USB adapter. It worked fine with Win 8.1 and Win 10, but when reverting back to Win 8.1 (clean install) the video card no longer lets me re-order the screens (1. Laptop, 2. Main screen, 3. Rear screen via DisplayLink)
Win 10 had other issues but the screens worked fine. I have the latest DisplayLink driver (tried the previous one too). Tried as many HD4400 drivers as I could find, without success.
I am not sure which Intel driver that I had previously. Please Help...

Hello MoparEd,
Thank you for contacting the Intel community.
Could you please let me know how all three monitors are connected? Are they connected via HDMI straight connection DP etc? I know that your 3rd monitor is connected via a DisplayLink
USB adapter but how about the other two, I just want to have a clearly vision or your system.
A video with the issue will be appreciate if it is possible, if not that is understandable.
Also, I will really appreciate if you could attach your system information, the DxDiag file, the report for Intel® graphics drivers and the Intel SSU?
Intel SSU (System Support Utility) (https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility😞
Download Intel® System Support Utility
- Download the utility
- Run the exe and select 'Scan'
- Save and include as an attachment in the Intel Community Forum
Report for Intel® Graphics Drivers follows the steps here:
http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005848.html http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005848.html
DxDiag Instructions:
- Click on the "Start Menu" -> Type "DxDiag" -> Press "Enter" -> Wait for the DirectX Diagnostic Tool to finish loading
- In the DirectX Diagnostic Tool, click "Save All Information" -> Save the file DxDiag.txt
- Include DxDiag.txt as an attachment in the Intel Community Forum
Best regards,
Ivan.

1. Laptop monitor at 1366 x 768
2. HDMI (actually sees a Kramer VP-731 scaler/switcher set at 1280 x 800 resolution) then on to projector also at 1280 x 800.
3. Usb DisplayLink to rear projector at 1024 x 768
In the screen resolution dialog box they show up as 1-3-2 which puts the stage display in the front. If I re-order them 1, 2, 3 and click apply they still identify
in the wrong order. I have been using this same setup with perfect success for over a year until now.
Thank you for your help,
Ed

Please try to install the driver https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25978/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-7-8-1-15-36-?product=81497 version 15.36.31.4414
Before installing this driver, uninstall the one you have install, disconnect the internet, this is to avoid Windows to push any driver update, once you do this install the driver manually.
Please see http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005598.html Uninstalling the Intel® Graphics Driver and Intel® Display HDMI/Audio Driver and how to http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005629.html Manually Install an Intel® Graphics Driver in Windows® 10 and Windows 8*/8.1*
To organize your displays access the Intel® HD Graphics Control Panel and under display set the displays as you wish.
If it does not work, try turning off your system and unplug every component, unplug the power cord and then plug everything back again to see if it recognized in the way it should.
Best regards,
Ivan.

No luck with the new drivers installed. It does seem to try to correct itself briefly when I click apply, but does not "stick". I have attached new scans in case anything has changed.
I don't see a HDMI device/driver listed anywhere.
Thank you again for your help,
Ed

Hi,
Honestly, from the Intel® HD Control Panel we are able to re-order any screen without issue, we don't have a system similar like yours because we cannot have any component from all partners but I'm sure the driver is working fine.
Do you remember some configuration or driver installed or anything similar that you don't have now that could be causing the issue?
I'm not sure if this is a limitation or miss configuration in the BIOS on your Laptop, do you remember anything like that, maybe contacting dell as well it will be a good idea as they are more familiar with your BIOS, ports and supported configurations on your system.
I'm sorry that I don't have a solution for you but I don't find a way to solve that problem since this driver is working fine for us.
Regards,
Ivan.

Thank you for your help. I was able to get it to work by using an HDMI to VGA adapter and I can live with that.
Thanks again,
Ed
