Hi Bryce@Intel,

are there any plans for a unified driver for Gen4/Gen5/Gen6 + Win7/8/10?

I am working for an OEM and our automated hardware detection/driver installation just work terrible when a driver has varying platform support.

Also if i filter in the download center for grafics driver "HD4600" and "Windows 8.1" i get the link to this driver which does not work for 8.1.

Exactly, I've searched for "HD 4600" and "Windows 8.1 x64", and got the 4279 link up in the list. So Intel's apparently saying that it works. Now you say it does not. OK, then I shouldn't get the link of the 4279 if filter by HD 4600 and Windows 8.1 x64.

About the Windows 10 x64 exe issue, it's alright, I installed it through the zip file, but the 2 first tries of the exe, downloading it twice, was really irritating.

Hi rambomhtri,

I hear you and completely understand the confusion. There's a limitation of Download Center that it doesn't allow to granularize release support down to the OS level per platform. It was unavoidable, but I wanted to mitigate the confusion as much as possible and hence posted the note prefacing the announcement and DC Description stating that the ReadMe's need to be reviewed for full details regarding support.

W4V3R

There are technical and logistical reasons behind the decision so a fully unified driver just isn't in the stars. I am the communities voice within Intel, so I have raised this concern of yours to the appropriate teams attention, but please do not get your hopes up. Thanks for making me aware of your thoughts.

I'm running Windows 10 pro x64 with i7-4790k on a Z97-AR motherboard

The Display Audio driver for DisplayPort Audio still does not work. The last Driver that works for DisplayPort Audio is 6.16.0.3154

Yes. Someone with HD4600 graphics (like me) posted they had no sound.

I provided a solution that works.

the following issues are still present with the new drivers

causing images to be drawn incorrectly when override_GL_ARB_separate_shader_objects = 1 is set in GSdx.ini (the pcsx2 developers have helped Intel by disabling this https://github.com/PCSX2/pcsx2/blob/ed21d88735f08703e5ef08967dd4c3871e8b23a3/plugins/GSdx/GLLoader.cpp# L392 pcsx2/GLLoader.cpp at ed21d88735f08703e5ef08967dd4c3871e8b23a3 · PCSX2/pcsx2 · GitHub however considering it is an openGL 4.1 core component and Intel clams my GPU is openGL 4.3 compatibility)

this has got worse with the new driver causing objects to not be drawn at all (causing higher scores than if the objects where drawn properly)

dolphin still crashes when using directx (the workaround is to use openGL)

Description

Provide a detailed description of the issue AND 'does it fail every single time, or only sometimes?' If you can offer a % rate please do.

When trying to run certain games, certain games in full screen, or just at random points in certain games, I get a popup

"Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" and then

"Application has been blocked from accessing graphics hardware." and the game freezes and I am forced to close the game with task manager.

For example, trying to run Final Fantasy 7 steam edition in full screen is a 100% failure rate after going past the title screen to the file selection screen. This used to be a Video_TDR_failure igdkmd64.sys

forcing my computer to restart, but ever since I updated my graphics driver to version 15.40.7.4279, it has been this other error that just locks up the game.

100% failure rate when trying to start The Last Remnant, regardless of full screen or windowed mode.

"Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" pops up in the corner a few times until finally

"Application has been blocked from accessing graphics hardware." appears and I have to use task manager to end the program. (Screenshot of the first message is attached. Why does it say Windows 8r? I don't understand)

Games where this error occurs seemingly at random is Never Alone and Castle Crashers.

Never Alone will crash 8/10 times I play it, but at completely different times.

Castle Crashers has done it once, but I have no idea how to replicate the issue.

Super Meat Boy has also had this issue.

Some video players have also given me this error.

Sounds exactly like one of the problems I see over here. A workaround that works for me is to turn off the 'Conservative Morphological Anti-Aliasing' setting under '3D'.

Only problem is - with this workaround your fps is going to take a hit.

Good luck.

Wow, thanks for the suggestion. This workaround does work. I'll be sure to update my post with this information. It's a shame about the fps though. Hopefully this will be seen and fixed *cough cough*

Disabling CMAA doesn't hurt frame rate. CMAA is a driver "add on" which takes the final render target from the game and applies some post processing to make edges smoother (get rid of jaggies). This is purely optional. As such it actually COSTS a small amount of performance to have CMAA enabled versus using the native output of the game.

If the game implements FXAA or CMAA, you can use that instead. If the game doesn't offer any anti-aliasing options (for example, many casual games or games with deferred rendering), then driver managed CMAA is a way to improve image quality at fairly low perf cost (few %)

The key FPS advantage of CMAA for performance is when you compare it to the performance impact of traditional MSAA where the performance impact of 4x MSAA is much higher for similar image quality improvement.

I don't recommend leaving CMAA on in the control panel all the time - it should be enabled just before launching games and disabled after to avoid any risk that the driver CMAA override gets incorrectly applied to non-gaming applications - see post 6 & 8 in this thread ... Intel could make things easier by making it such that the settings in the 3D tab of the control panel were truly "per game" and only took effect on specific titles instead of being globally on/off.

Hello,

Is this new driver (but I saw a 15.40.10.4300 version, so it' not very the last ^_^ ) perfectly stable ? If not, what version is better please ?

I would know too if it's possible to create a custom resolution with this new version ? Has it improved on this point ? Because it wasn't very good on my old version (I don't know what version because there isn't any information about it in the Intel HD Control Panel).

I create a topic about custom resolution here :

It's very important for me.

Thanks for your help 🙂

OK. But you didn't answer this question which was the true question :

And now that you answered me here, could you give me an answer on my topic please

Thanks !

The 4300 driver is the latest production version available on the Intel download site.

Ok. Thanks Allan 😉

The problem is that I was not able to install it on my laptop Toshiba L50-A-1DG, so I had to install an old driver provided by Toshiba.

But no custom resolution like AMD do. That doesn't matter. Next time I will buy a computer with an AMD graphic card, maybe an AMD CPU too (if it's not a laptop, it will be a desktop computer) because I see that you can't propose a fonction that is present in the NVidia control panel for a long time on computers that haven't the Optimus technology. It's not that it's not possible, you made this impossible !

And I'm not off-topic, because I talk about your drivers !

You should give the same functions that a GPU can give without the IGP. But you can't... it's not equivalent, you're not at the level ! So you should have to let us choose if we want that desktop is managed by Intel IGP or NVidia GPU and if Intel IGP is disabled, let NVidia offer us all the functions that they usually propose in their Control Panel. We have an underexploited GPU because you curb their functionalities ! That's the truth, the truth of a disappointed customer !

I denote a little touch of irony in your answer, but maybe I'm wrong. No problem !

I just want to say that it's not a reproach about what Intel can't do, but a reproach about they don't want to do ! Nuance !

You could add this function, but you don't want. I never said that Intel is rotten. You do good products, but I just noticed that some functions that are normally in the NVidia Control Panel are not in the Intel HD Control Panel. My opinion is funded, I talk about facts.

By respect for your clients who buy a laptop for a graphic card, if some functions are deported from the NVidia GPU to the Intel IGP, Intel must proposes the same functions ! The Optimus technology shoud be an advantage, not a drawback.

And as I said, it's a question of respect. You give respect, and your client show you respect... and buy your products ! In the best world it should be like this !

And by respect you could answer me on my topic too I bought your products, I am a client... for the moment... and it could continue if you want. I know that one more client or one less, you don't care, but at least pretend that you're interested in your clients. If I'm sharing my thoughts, it's because I'm interested by your products too

I've been seeing the same problem since the day I installed Windows 10 and the .40 branch Intel graphics driver. The chip is i7 4700 (HD 4600), mobo ASUS z87 Pro, 8 GB memory. (Certainly not much of a gaming rig). I did some testing, and CMAA has crashed the driver in every D3D9 game or benchmark regardless of CPU load, texture size, V-Sync, anything. Direct3D 6/8/11 and OpenGL seem to be unaffected. And, yes, it was working fine in recent driver releases on Windows 8.1, so now it feels like a takeaway
