Configuration:

CPU:Intel i5-4440S

GPU:Intel HD 4600 (Driver 15.40.4.64.4256)

Motherboard:MSI Z97 Gaming 7 (latest bios 1.A)

Monitor:iiyama ProLite X2382HS connected in HDMI

Problem:

Everytime I turn off and on the monitor(pressing the power button), the drivers crash and Win10 goes BSOD.

I had the same problem with Windows 8.1 Pro, before upgrading.

Please fix this problem in the next release! If you need more info, let me know.

Hello Bryce@Intel,

i will report my BSODs in the proper way now.

Description - Bluescreens during hardware-accelerated video playback (DXVA)

Hardware and Software - see http://pastebin.com/n5vmSSk0 dxdiag.txt - Pastebin.com

Configuration - single display via DVI, 1920x1080

How to reproduce - Watching a video in a video player with DXVA acceleration, then it sporadically bluescreens. Not often, but it will happen.

Watching video with MPC-HC x86 (MPC Homecinema), which uses DXVA2 hardware acceleration (under "Output", select "Enhanced Video Renderer - Custom Presenter"). Suddenly the screen turns black and there is a sound as if a device was unplugged. The sound of the video keeps playing at first, but nothing on the screen. Then a few seconds later, the bluescreen.

*** STOP: 0x00000116 (0xffffe000f846f010, 0xfffff80121516550, 0x0000000000000000, 0x000000000000000d)

*** dxgkrnl.sys - Address 0xfffff80120202a7c base at 0xfffff801200c0000 DateStamp 0x55af128a

Second bluescreen:

*** STOP: 0x00000116 (0xffffe001200ad160, 0xfffff800abc76550, 0x0000000000000000, 0x000000000000000d)

*** dxgkrnl.sys - Address 0xfffff800aad12a7c base at 0xfffff800aabd0000 DateStamp 0x55af128a

It seems like Windows 10 noticed something wrong with how the driver behaves, tries (but fails) to restart the driver and then ultimately bluescreens.

Hello Mike500,

I performed a lab under these circumstances but I couldn't get the same issue reported, have you tried with the latest version https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25274/Intel-Iris-Iris-Pro-and-HD-Graphics-Production-Driver-for-Windows-7-8-1-10 Download Intel® Iris™, Iris™ Pro, and HD Graphics Production Driver for Windows® 7, 8.1, & 10?

Hello Amy_Intel, first of all, thanks for finally testing this. But i have moved on from Intel graphics to an NVIDIA GeForce 960 now. For weeks i had to watch videos with software playback because the Intel Windows 10 graphics drivers were so buggy. So now i've disabled the integrated graphics and i'm back on NVIDIA, couldn't be happier. Their drivers are great.

I don't know if this problem was solved with the newer driver, and frankly, i don't care anymore. I was very disappointed that Intel couldn't manage to write a proper driver in time for the Windows 10 launch. It's not like Win10 came out of the blue.

Thanks again for replying and good luck to all the Intel users, i hope Intel can get their stuff together with the driver quality.

With all due respect Amy_Intel did you even read Mike500's post?

His issue is resolved because he's using another video card rather than the suffer any more with these terrible Intel drivers.

AGREED A TRILLION TIMES THESE DRIVERS ARE TERRIBLE! LOOK AT JUST HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE ANNOYED AND UNSATIFIED WITH THIS ISSUE. I contaced Microsoft (remote assistance live technical chat) they do not know how to fix the issue. Made like 6 forums (HP FORUMS) on Driver crashes and BSOD related to Graphic drivers NOT EVEN TRIED TO HELP and Intel? Make 2 graphic production driver whatever it is called and no differences made. THIS IS THE MOST ANNOYINNG ISSUE FOR ME ASWELL AS BSOD'S:

ALL MY DRIVERS EVERYTHING ARE UP - TO - DATE

AND WINDOWS 8.1(R) I AM USING WINDOWS 10

The latest Windows 10 video driver causes the windows on my Intel NUC to resize when resuming from sleep AGAIN.

This issue was resolved a few releases ago, but it's now back in the latest release. Great work Intel!

I have been testing the latest graphics drivers 4256 using Passmark's PerformanceTest 8.0 but I did not get any driver crash problems. I have followed step by step provided on your post.

Are you still getting same problem?

Allan.

Driver crash when you run a Passmark's PerformanceTest 8.0 3D DirectX 9 test (either one of the two)

1. Fire up PerformanceTest

2. Select 'Tests' -> 3D Graphics -> DirectX 9 – Simple

3. After a few seconds the system says 'display driver stopped working and has recovered'

Hello Allan,

Yes the same problem persists over here, can repro each time.

One thing I found however is that if I go to Intel HD Graphics Control Panel, "3D", then change the Convervative Morphological Anti-Aliasing settings from "Override Application Settings" to "Turn Off", the problem would vanish.

Hello seemebreakthis,

I downloaded the software mentioned and ran it on different computers under the same circumstances but the driver did not crash, I even tested it with the latest driver version and it worked.

Amy.
