Attempted to use Intel GPU software from here on pop-os 22.04 (Ubuntu): https://dgpu-docs.intel.com/driver/client/overview.html#installing-client-gpus-on-ubuntu-desktop-22-04-lts
It crashed and gave me this error:
$ sudo apt upgrade

You might want to run 'apt --fix-broken install' to correct these.

E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt --fix-broken install' with no packages (or specify a solution).
Attempting to manually uninstall/downgrade would essentially uninstall my operating system.
Please tell me how to downgrade these packages and uninstall the INTEL repo.

Hi @cement_head,
Thank you for posting in the community. To further investigate the issue you're experiencing, please provide the following information:
- Please provide the Intel® System Support Utility for the Linux* Operating System report and share it here so I can review your system's configuration.
- What is the current GPU installed on your system?
- What is the exact version of Ubuntu you are currently using? (If there's a command to reveal this, that would be better, as there might be specific versions per code.)
- Was this installed before? Are you currently using a new GPU?
- What is your motherboard?
I look forward to your response and am committed to resolving your issue promptly.
Warm regards,
Randy T.

I am on System76 Pop-OS - which has an OS "Refresh" button, which basically resets the install while keeping the files. In this way, I was able to "fix" my machine. So I don't need any help.
Just an FYI: I've never gotten the INTEL GPU repos to work, either on Pop-OS or on a vanilla Ubuntu install - it always causes catastrophic system irreversible breakage. Specifically with the distro specific packaging and version numbers. Essentially a barrier to using anything that INTEL is attempting to develop.

I should have installed ppa-purge <*.deb> package before attempting this, then I could have reverted. I **think** the issue is related not to INTEL packages per se, but to dependencies that are in the distro, that have different version numbers that the INTEL GPU PPA is trying to require.

Hi @cement_head,
Here's an update:
Intel actively collaborates with various upstream projects to enable the best possible experience using the software and drivers provided by Linux operating system distributions. For the best support of Intel graphics products on Linux, we recommend using the kernel, drivers, and packages supplied by your operating system vendor. As new hardware platforms enter the market, updating to the latest version of the operating system may be necessary to enable these platforms.
For now, only the following Linux distribution is supported by Intel for Intel Arc Graphics
- Ubuntu Desktop 24.10
- Ubuntu Desktop 24.04
- Ubuntu Desktop 22.04 LTS
Though Pop-OS is based on Ubuntu, the OS distribution may have introduced optimizations or removed components of the may or may not allow the drivers we have provided on the public guide that Intel has provided to install Intel Arc graphics drivers to function properly.
It is advisable to use the supported OS distribution when using Intel Arc Graphics cards. Since the issue has been address, I'll proceed to close this case now.
