Hi, I'm trying to follow the guide on how to install intel drivers over manufacturer drivers that is on your website here: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000056629/graphics.html This specifies that "During the installation process, when you reach the Install stage, click the Customize button" The problem I have is that after launching there isn't a "customize" button, only a "begin installation" button, which just gives me the error the guide on your website is supposed to fix, "Your system has a driver that is locked to manufacturer specification. Please try downloading the latest driver from the manufacturer's website to update. Exit code 1". Thanks in advance.

If you run the Intel driver installation and this error occurs, this means that there is still an occurrence of the customized driver. This can occur if you do not perform this process with Internet access completely disabled. Without Internet access completely disabled, Windows Update may restore the customized driver; you have to keep it disabled so Windows Update cannot muck with things.

Hope this helps,

Thanks for the reply.

There was no internet connection, I had my wifi off.  The first time I ran it I had a smartscreen warning that windows couldn't check the installer because of a lack of internet connection.

I tried it again with the wifi off, same result.  I've attached the log file this time, not sure why I didn't think to do that the first time.

Hello RobotToaster

Thank you for posting on the Intel Communities. I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues when trying to install the graphics driver.

If I may jump into the conversation, I would like to ask you for the following information to assist with this issue:

1.-Please, provide us with the link or screenshots of the driver that you are trying to install.

2.-Create a log file with the Intel® System Support Utility and attach it.

Best Regards,

Thanks for the reply.

The driver I'm trying to install is the one linked in the article I linked to in my original post, this one: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/19344/intel-graphics-windows-dch-drivers.html

I have attached the log file you requested.

Thanks in advance.

Hello RobotToaster

After checking this case the best next steps would be that you check with your Original Equipment Manufacturer since there might be a hardware limitation from the system's side as Intel Graphics DCH Drivers are unlocked to upgrade freely between Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) drivers and the Intel Generic Graphics Drivers.
