This is my computer:

I am trying to add this driver: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27680/Graphics-Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10 Download Intel® Graphics Driver for Windows® 10

I want to play one of the games it supports, Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition

Downloading and running the regular installer results in this:

I have followed every step of this supposed fix: https://www.drivereasy.com/knowledge/fix-this-installation-package-is-not-supported-by-this-processor-type/ [Fix] This Installation Package Is not Supported by This Processor Type - Driver Easy

Every driver on my computer has been successfully updated per the Pro level of this software package.

I have followed the directions for manually installing the driver as per this site: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000005629/graphics-drivers.html Manually Install an Intel® Graphics Driver in Windows® 10 and...

I got to this point:

I could not select the IGXPIN option, although it is there in my Downloads.

I am at the end of my wits. I cannot play the indicated game without it constantly crashing due to long-standing incompatibility issues between Intel products and the Beamdog code.

https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/68989/is-anyone-else-having-ee-crash-on-them-when-loading-different-areas-even-in-official-campaigns Is anyone else having EE crash on them when loading different areas even in official campaigns — Beamdog Forums

Please help me so that I can play my game!

You should NEVER, EVER, use driver easy.

And, you never once mentioned the make and model of your system.

I used Driver Easy in an attempt to find a solution before I resorted to posting here.

Here are my system specs:

"I used Driver Easy in an attempt to find a solution before I resorted to posting here."

That does not make any sense.

Whatever, you should be using the driver provided by DELL, as they may have modified/customized the driver for their device. Using the Intel generic driver may cause problems or a lack of functionality.

That said, here is the latest driver for your processor: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27680/?product=88192 Download Intel® Graphics Driver for Windows® 10

Download the ZIP format

Then, follow the instructions here, following every step. Ignore the part about Microsoft Surface.

As mentioned in my first post, I have already downloaded the same driver (in .zip format) that you linked.

Following the indicated steps from the provided link results in this error:

I navigated to the file as so:

Well, perhaps one of the Intel support staff can help.

I would try a fresh install of windows 10, as we have no idea what state your drivers are in, especially with your usage of driver easy.

Hello LTBugg,

Thank you contacting us.

I understand that you are having issues with the installation of our latest drivers in your OEM equipment.

We will need you to totally disconnect your machine from the internet, and then uninstall all the graphic drivers from you machine until the basic display driver is exposed.

In order to do it, please go ahead and click on the "Uninstalling the Intel Graphics Driver via the Device Manager Method" option on the following link:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000005598/graphics-drivers.html?_ga=2.123380110.488798421.1525378959-258458104.1514926373&erpm_id=5941618 https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000005598/graphics-drivers.html?_ga=2.123380110.488798421.1525378959-258458104.1514926373&erpm_id=5941618

Please note that you may need to reboot 2 or maybe 3 times your machine after uninstalling the drivers, so you can make sure that you got rid of them.

After that, please go ahead and perform a manual installation of the latest drivers for your machine, here's the direct download: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27680/Graphics-Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10?product=88355 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27680/Graphics-Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10?product=88355

Please go ahead and try to update the drivers through a manual installation.

You will find all the steps here:

You are still using ye olde Windows 10 Threshold (Microsoft support ended last month btw)

Current drivers require Anniversary Update or newer

Hi Diego S.

I followed your instructions, and the same error resulted - first that the installation package was not supported by the processor type, and then that the folder specified doesn't contain compatible software for the device.

I reinstalled the most recent driver that's supported, which is the 2017 one shown.

My work-around at the moment is to remote into my home computer and play the game that way, but it's a bit laggy to do. Plus, if anything happens to my power (...like me forgetting to turn the computer on before I left for work...) then I'm out of luck.

I wish that Intel and Beamdog could resolve their ongoing compatibility issues.

Regardless, I appreciate the help. I don't know why my computer won't accept the driver, and I don't think it's a problem that can be easily solved.

As I said before "I would try a fresh install of windows 10, as we have no idea what state your drivers are in, especially with your usage of driver easy."

With all the time spent on this already, you could be well past this point.

I don't know if that's possible for me, as I'm on a work-issued laptop. (My workplace knows and accepts that people use work-issued computers for all sorts of personal things, so my game being on it is not at all an issue.)

It's something that I could call our IT department to do for me, but I'd need a plausible reason beyond "my game won't work."

(I suppose I could blame QuickBooks, as that's been our problem-child for a while now!)

Ah... Now we are getting somewhere. Do you know if your IT shop as specifically limited you from updating system drivers, like the graphics driver?

You may have no choice but to ask them for assistance.
