Problem with Arc control and Lenovo driver

So, I want to get the Intel Arc Control software so I can change some of the settings of my games. But to install Arc control, I also have to update the graphics card.

Problem is, my laptop is a Lenovo Yoga 9i (2023), whose graphics driver comes from Lenovo vantage. I noticed this graphics driver is not up to date so earlier this year I downloaded intels graphics driver installer. After installing it, my laptop was acting weird and got stuck in the login screen, where I could not even type properly, much less login. I had to boot in safe mode, deal with bitlocker, uninstall the latest driver, all so that the laptop could start up again normally and windows automatic resinstalled the levono vantage version of the driver.

So now I am in this situation where I want Arc control, but I cannot install it because I cannot updated the driver by fear of it breaking my laptop again. Lenovo recommends to use their drivers as they were tested on their laptops, but then the drivers are often outdated.

I have a 2022 Yoga 9i and essentially same problem. For the first year or so I was able to load new Intel ARC drivers without incident. Then, out of the blue on a new driver update,  I ran into the same problem as you. Windows (Win 11 in my case) locked up and crashed. I had to restore Windows using Bitlocker unlock. I just stayed with the Lenovo "official" driver (from 2022), which they have never updated. I waited a while for a few more Intel ARC driver revisions to come out and risked trying again. Same result as before. Crashed Windows again in exactly the same way. At this point I've just given up. If you Google for forum discussions on this topic, you just find Lenovo reps/influencers saying to use the Lenovo driver and a few ad hoc comments from others that provide no insight into what the problem is. It's frustrating, but you're not alone.
