I have a new i5-3570K processor and am using the HD 4000 graphics to drive a Dell 2709W monitor using the display port interface from an Asus P8Z77-V Deluxe motherboard. I just downloaded latest driver from Intel. Everything seems to be working fine, but when trying to display a protected file recorded with Media Center - the file plays for about 1 second, and then I get an error message "Display driver error," and then the line below "The video playback device does not support playback of protected content."
I used this monitor previously on my old computer with a Nvdia display board, and the DVI interface, so the monitor should be capable of displaying protected content.
Is there a solution?
Ben

DisplayPort is not considered DHCP capable by Windows Media Center. You will need to switch to DVI or HDMI.

Just clarifying, I can play the protected content from a Media Center Extender, so the issue is related to the HD 4000 to Monitor interface, and not associated with other copy protection issues.

Thanks for the information and the link to the article.
I guess I'll need to connect by HDMI, but it's a bit of a bummer because one reason I purchased this motherboard was that it had a display port output - which I wanted to use (in anticipation of getting a newer super high resolution monitor). Evidently HDMI has a maximum resolution limit lower than display port...

I'm in somewhat the same boat as you... Purchased a DH67BL/Core i7-2600 setup to pair with my Dell U3011 2560x1600 display.
Problem is that you can get 2560x1600 only with DisplayPort (DP) with the Intel graphics because Intel doesn't support dual-link DVI... and you can't get "protected path" from Windows with DP.
I ended up buying a discrete Nvidia GT 430 card that supports dual-link DVI and put the Intel HD3000 out to pasture...

I agree, but hopefully as the 2650 x 1600 and other high resolution monitors become more popular (which is sure to happen eventually), then Microsoft & Intel will maybe work together to fix the current situation with display port.
