Problem with HEVC 4K 8-bit playback with Celeron N3050 Braswell

While playing HEVC 8-bit 4K video, I get square artifacts:

That means nothing. According to Intel, N3050 fully supports HEVC 4K 8-bit playback.

My Asus E202SA has 4GB of ram though. That's just a driver bug.

I have no problem with Nvidia GTX 960 graphic card even with 2GB of RAM.

It's better to report this problem to Intel to fix their crappy drivers.

Hello PJay,

I am sorry to hear you are still having issues. What Allan was trying to say is that this processor does support HEVC but the system you have requires more RAM and this is because the on-board graphics uses Shared Memory which is different than Dedicated Memory. The NVidia Cards use Dedicated memory. So this is the reason why Allan advised to use more RAM.

One more time, there's nothing wrong with the amount of the RAM/VRAM (Dedicated/Shared). That's only the lack of your knowledge.

Well, I found what was the real issue:

As you see, 4K doesn't even touch 1GB of VRAM and Braswell can't handle any 4K 50/60fps, no wonder since Intel makes the worst graphic cards in the world.

The default video renderer of MPC-HC - 'EVR-CP' is too much for weak Atom GPUs, maybe.

I couldn't find the latest driver for Braswell too, the existing one is old:

Finally I solved the above problem by uninstalling Asus OEM Intel graphics driver and installing the latest Intel driver: 20.19.15.4501 (15.40.28)
