ReClock (with MPC-BE) unable to detect the refresh rate of display

Dear Intel Arc Engineering Team,

I apologize for bothering you, but I am hoping to get some assistance regarding the use of ReClock for video playback on MPC-BE. Unfortunately, ReClock is unable to detect the refresh rate of the display on this computer, which is equipped with an A750 graphics card, preventing ReClock from working properly. I have previously used the same software on an older computer with an AMD graphics card, and everything worked fine. I am unsure as to what is causing this error. I originally intended to inquire directly with the developer of ReClock, but my account application to their forum was rejected. As a last resort, I am reaching out here and hoping that the engineers at Intel may have a solution. I would be grateful if you could help me resolve this issue. Thank you.

OS: Windows 10 64-bit 22H2 19045.2965

Driver: 31.0.101.4335 Beta

Software: ReClock 1.9.0.7, MPC-BE 1.6.7 x86 (ReClock is only compatible with 32-bit.), madVR 0.92.17, LAVFilters 0.77.2

Best regards,

Hello Stubbly3343,

Thanks for posting on the Intel️® communities. We are sorry for the delay in our response, we are experiencing some issues with our website with the creation of the threads. However, we will be more than glad to help you.

We would like to recommend testing this app with our latest driver. The driver 31.0.101.4369 just came out this week, when installing the driver, perform a clean driver installation. Doing a clean install for any hardware can help to fix specific issues that can be associated so any additional software that might be causing malfunction.  clean install

  • In case the issue persists, we would like to ask for the following information:
  • What is the distribution service you used to install the app?
  • Does the issue only affect the app to detect the refresh rate?
  • Does the issue persist in older drivers?
  • We would like to gather more information about your system, so please create a system report using the following tools:
  •  Intel®️ System Support Utility (Intel®️ SSU)
    • Download the Intel SSU
    • Open the application and click on "Scan" to see the system and device information. By default, Intel®️ SSU will take you to the "Summary View."
    • Click on the menu where it says: "Summary" to change it to "Detailed View."
    • To save your scan: click on "Next"; then "Save."
  • Intel® Graphics Command Center:
    • Open the Intel Graphics Command Center
    • Navigate to the Support tab
    • Select System Diagnostic
    • Click Generate Report
    • Select Save and name the output file.

Apologies for the delay in responding. I have upgraded my Windows 10 to version 19045.3031 and updated the Arc Driver to 4369 WHQL (clean install). Initially, the issue persisted, but later I discovered a peculiar solution, which is to enable the Smooth Motion feature in madVR. Once Smooth Motion is enabled, ReClock is able to detect the screen refresh rate and function properly. Once it succeeds, even if Smooth Motion is disabled again, ReClock continues to work correctly. Whenever ReClock fails, I simply go into madVR and enable Smooth Motion, and ReClock starts working again. It's strange, but it works.

ReClock is a 3rd party DirectShow Audio Renderer that has been technically obsolete for at least five years. Compatibility with current hardware is extremely doubtful.

Yes, I do believe that the primary cause of the issue lies in the compatibility between the new hardware and old software. Unfortunately, it seems that the developers of ReClock have no intention of updating it. However, the existing alternative solutions are not quite satisfactory for me, such as the aforementioned Smooth Motion, I personally don't think it perform as well as ReClock. Another method is manually editing the screen refresh rate and timings, but I prefer not to mess up these settings and make them all chaotic. Therefore, ReClock remains important to me personally.
