With the same exact laptop, port, adapter, and TV, I was trivially able to get 8k @ 60Hz to display perfectly on my Gen 12 Lenovo X1 Nano Gen 2 with the i7-1280p, as advertised. TV: Samsung qn800a.
An update to my system, which included a cumulative Windows update as well as an Intel driver update, broke this capability. Selecting the 7680x4320 option now results in a max of 30fps, and the resulting image is extremely blurry with a poor colorspace, YCbCr420.
It is obvious that the computer was using DSC before, and is no longer doing so. This is a major, critical regression. I spent $2500 on this laptop and $2000 more on this TV to use it as a monitor. Now it is totally broken garbage.
This is a critical, collosal, utter failure and I don't even know where to begin troubleshooting. I've tried resetting the TV completely (no use), tried downgrading the Intel driver (I'm met with errors if I go back too far, and the oldest working driver does not change the behavior, so it's probably an interaction with Windows).

Hi again -- just wanted to update you that I accidentally skipped just one version -- 1631 -- the very first driver that supports this chipset on Intel's page -- WORKS. The very next one (1660) and all the way to the latest 101.3222, are broken. They do not support the advertised output modes.
I can also confirm on a native DP monitor from Dell!
I refuse to believe nobody has ever tried an 8K TV or monitor with this ultra-common gen 12 chipset. This is seriously bad, guys. Seriously bad -- what's going on with the driver QC on 8K setups? I have attached pics now, showing the one working version (above) and all versions since (bottom, broken!).
This obviously is a critical problem that really needs to be fixed. It happens with 2 monitors using completely different setups.
No, that second image is not a blurry shot from my camera. It really does look that screwed up. And yes -- it only shows 3 refresh rates, and 60Hz isn't among them. Clearly DSC is not getting enabled in later driver versions, making the spec misleading on your Arc page for this chipset for all later drivers than 1631. https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/226253/intel-core-i71280p-processor-24m-cache-up-to-4-80-ghz/specifications.html#specs-1-0-4

Hello GabeAl,
Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities.
In order to better assist you, please provide the following information:
- What cable are you using to connect the laptop to the Samsung TV?
- Download the Intel® SSU https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility-for-Windows-
Open the application and select "Everything", click on "Scan" to see the system and device information. By default, Intel® SSU will take you to the "Summary View". Click on the menu where it says "Summary" to change to "Detailed View". To save your scan, click on "Next", then "Save". Please attach the file to your reply.
As well, have you tried installing the driver recommended by Lenovo (30.101.1298)? If not, you can download it here https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/cr/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-x-series-laptops/thinkpad-x1-nano-gen-2-type-21e8-21e9/downloads/driver-list/component?name=Graphics%20Processing%20Units%20%28GPU%29%20and%20Server-AI%20Accelerators
Please let me know of the outcome.
Best regards,
Steven G.

Yes -- sorry for the delay. It's attached!
Note that it was generated on the only working driver version, version 1631. I've called this good_8k. All other driver versions, including the latest version, produce bad results; I've attached the latest driver as "bad_8k".
Note that this is to the Samsung Qn850A. The good driver is capable of 60Hz and clear picture, the bad driver is capable of 30Hz and has bad picture (see above).
The adapter used is the SABRENT USB Type-C to HDMI 2.1 Adapter | 8K/60Hz & 4K/120Hz with DSC Function.
Thanks,
Gabe

Thank you for your response.
By any chance, have you tried a straight connection (HDMI to HDMI, USB-C to USB-C, DP to DP) if possible/available using the latest drivers?

None of my devices accept displayport 8k natively anymore, as I returned my Dell monitor due to it being way to expensive for what it could deliver versus the $1000 screens that will do it perfectly.
My TV, the QN850A, which works unbelievably well as a large monitor, supports 8k@60hz via HDMI 2.1 and works perfectly with v1631 of the drivers (which came with my laptop). As you might expect, my laptop doesn't have HDMI ports (most portable ones don't anymore).
We're currently in a world where most 8k devices accept HDMI 2.1, and most 8k producing devices output USB-C/DP.
This is why adapters are both required and expected.
No, I am not able to somehow conjure a direct connection, and I don't think that's in any way unexpected or non-representative. All current devices able to affordably receive 8k are HDMI 2.1-only devices (mostly TVs). Most devices that can affordably produce an 8k signal are devices with Intel integrated graphics.
Cue the current situation. Surprisingly, it worked perfectly at first and was broken with later driver versions. Reverting to the old driver fixes the problem, almost like magic... But relying on old drivers forever is not a solution, obviously.
Thanks

Hello GabeAl,
Upon checking this further, I realized this issue is being worked on a different case you previously opened. For that reason, we will keep working on that case and close this thread.
If you need any additional information, please refer to the original case.

Hello Steven_Intel,
GabeAl has described my same problem perfectly. I have Dell 5420 with Intel i5-1145G7. I output to an LG CX 48" TV at 4k 120 Hz using a Club3D usb-c to HDMI 2.1 cable. Every driver since 30.0.101.1631 has been broken and limited to 1080p60. 30.0.101.1631 is the last functioning driver. Please update the community on when this functionality will be added back to the drivers.

Hi Steven_Intel,
Is there a way I can see the status of the case that was opened by @GabeAl ? How can I create my open case to work on this problem?
