I have HP Pavillion that had XP Media center 05 edition, drive crashed and I installed XP Pro. All runs fine except I get this SM BUS controller error. I have learned it is a result of this OS change. I have Intel chipset 945G. The Intel driver scan did not work (interupts and kicks me out?), how do I get the necessary bus controller? Can I update all drivers for my chipset and will that fix it? (and which update is it specifically?)
I also was told I could uninstall the bus controller and just reboot, windows would fix it, does this sound true?

I would try the Intel download center to see if you can find the appropriate chipset driver.

Hope that helps,
