Hi,I'm new here and decided to make a topic because im basically going nuts over this.
I'm no whizkid when it comes to these sort of things.
I finished installing a fresh Windows7 64bit on my HP laptop.
and i was installing updates when i saw there was a newer version for my
Mobile Intel® 4 Series Express Chipset Family 8.15.10.1749
And like a silly goose i decided hey why not, so i downloaded it and installed it but now the whole thing has gone to pot.
It did not install correctly obviously it gave me the (Could not register one or more components this will close)
So i thought okay this didn't install no harm done, i rebooted and now im stuck with a very ugly huge 800x600 resolution and no clue how to fix this.
i followed a ton of how-to guides on this forum but nothing is working for me, they all give me the same error.
Could someone help me, it seems there is no system restore point, that's just charming.
Would i have to resort to re-installing windows again.
I hope anyone can walk me through this
Thanks in advance

I hate to bump an old thread up, but I can't find another current one with this same issue.
Here is the information the driver update utility gave me.

I have tried numerous times to download the current driver to no avail. Is there something else I can try?

I too am still having this same problem.
After having gone through numerous iterations of display drivers (Uninstall, Delete, Reboot, Download, Install).
I still get the same error message:
"an error occurred while registering one or more components"
This is with an Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family.
If 8.15.10.2869 is the most recent driver, why wont it work?
Also, when doing a manual search for compatible drivers, this driver is listed under:
15.17.19.64.2869
(Latest)
I realize this technology is a little dated, but is there any chance we can get some support from Intel?
Like, ever?
This is starting to make you guys look bad...

Hello AntiGrav,
As you mentioned the latest driver for the Mobile Intel® 4 Series Express Chipset Family is:
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=22167 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=22167
It is also important to say that the controller is a mature product and the support is limited by now. I recommend you updating all drivers in the computer and then install this one.
If you are still having problems, please attach your dxdiag report here.
How to get it?
Dxdiag Report: Type dxdiag in Start Menu> open> Save> Attach using Advanced Editor Options.
