The B580 works terribly in Capcut.

I’m using an Intel Arc B580 GPU and experiencing low GPU utilization around 15-20% in CapCut Desktop, even though hardware acceleration is enabled.
The CPU gets overloaded instead, and video playback becomes choppy, especially during color correction.

Even minor color adjustments cause severe lag. I’ve checked all settings and configurations — everything is set up correctly. This issue didn’t occur with my previous GPUs (RX580 and RTX 3060).

System details:

  • GPU: Intel Arc B580

  • CPU: Ryzen 5 5600

  • RAM: 32 GB

  • OS: Windows 11

Resizable BAR is enabled, the latest drivers (October 22) are installed, and the system is running on a clean Windows installation with a 750W PSU. CapCut runs fine on other graphics cards.

In Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve, GPU acceleration works as expected, so it seems specific to CapCut.
Please consider optimizing or updating the Intel Arc drivers for better compatibility with CapCut, since performance in other editing software is normal.

Hi Uliana,

Thank you for posting in our Community. I’m sorry to hear that CapCut Desktop isn’t performing as expected with your Intel® Arc™ B580, especially since everything runs smoothly on your previous GPUs and other editing software like Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve. Given that GPU acceleration works normally in other applications, this does point toward a CapCut-specific compatibility or optimization issue rather than a hardware problem on your end. Before we proceed, could you help clarify a few additional details so we can narrow things down further?

  • Which version of CapCut Desktop are you currently using?
  • Does the issue change if you lower the preview/playback resolution inside CapCut?
  • When exporting videos, does the GPU still stay at 15–20%, or does the utilization increase?
  • Have you noticed any other apps or overlays running that might interfere with GPU scheduling (e.g., OBS, Discord, AMD/NVIDIA leftover drivers, etc.)?

Additionally, I'd like to delve deeper and verify specifics like the graphics models, precise driver versions, and any system errors. Utilizing the Intel SSU tool will enable me to collect detailed information about your system setup, which could aid in identifying the underlying cause of this issue.

Have a nice day!

CapCut version: 7.3.0

Changing the preview/playback settings doesn’t affect anything at all.

It’s the same when exporting, but still very slow — it actually takes a long time to export.

No other applications are open, and even if some are, they don’t affect it.

Also, if I enable decoding or encoding using the GPU, it somehow becomes even slower, with more lags on the timeline.

Please fix this issue, this clearly shouldn’t be happening. I swapped three graphics cards in one day, and only on the B580 were there such problems. I've attached the PC data file below.

Hello Uliana,

Thank you for providing the detailed information and for sharing your SSU logs. I understand the challenges you’re experiencing with CapCut version 7.3.0, including slow preview, playback, and export performance, as well as the unexpected behavior when using GPU decoding or encoding. I appreciate the thorough context you’ve provided, including the troubleshooting you’ve already done with multiple graphics cards. I will need to conduct additional research on this issue to better understand the root cause and explore possible solutions. Once I have more information, I will post an update in this thread to keep you informed of the next steps.

Thank you for your patience while I look into this.

Hello Uliana,

Thank you for providing all the detailed information and steps. I wanted to let you know that I have successfully recreated the issue using the same setup you reported. We are actively investigating, and I'll keep you updated with any progress or solutions as soon as possible.

I really appreciate your patience and cooperation while we work on this.

Yes, it's strange that the decoding issue through the card doesn't help solve the problem. On the latest version, it's the same, and the yellow bar on the timeline, which should indicate where the video is, isn't showing up. When I render, there are a lot of gaps left. Do you have the same issue

Hello Uliana,

Thank you for your update. I tested CapCut Desktop version 7.5.0 on an Arc B580 LE using driver 32.0.101.8250, and everything appeared to function normally on my end. During video editing and exporting, GPU utilization reached about 96%, which indicates expected behavior. To help me investigate your specific scenario more accurately, could you please share the following?

  • Your CapCut project file, if possible
  • The exact steps you take before the issue appears
  • A short screen recording demonstrating how to replicate the problem

These details will allow me to reproduce the issue more precisely and provide the best possible guidance.

Sorry for not replying for so long. The file is below on the drive. Actions: turn on the computer, open CapCut, make a simple video with several transitions, effects, and text, and apply color correction. I JUST NOTICED IN ANOTHER PROJECT THAT AFTER RENDERING IT STILL LAGS (maybe this will help solve the problem). The recording is also below.

Project and video. Pleaaase help, Do you have the same PC build? A Ryzen 5 5600G and 32GB of RAM?

Hello Uliana,

Thank you so much for getting back to me, and no worries at all about the delay. I really appreciate you sharing the project files and recordings. This gives me exactly what I need to take a closer look at the behavior you’re seeing in CapCut. I’ll check the project and your steps to see what’s causing the lag during editing and after rendering. Your note about another project lagging post-render also helps me figure out whether this is a playback issue, project-related, or something deeper. I can definitely test the project on our end and compare the behavior. Your system specs should normally be capable of handling this type of edit, so I’ll dig into what might be holding things back.

Once I finish reviewing the files, I’ll follow up with the next steps or any findings. Thanks again for your patience.

Any progress on this?
I also noticed that it starts lagging after I place the text on top of the color correction. No idea what’s causing it or why, but maybe this info will help you.
And yeah, as someone else mentioned here — the videos on the timeline don’t always get highlighted with the yellow border, even though they should.

Hello Uliana,

Thank you for your patience. Based on multiple internal tests, I have not observed the issue you reported. During testing with various video clips, effects, text, and transitions, the video playback was smooth, with GPU utilization spiking up to ~60% during transitions/effects. You can view an example of the test here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPuLwvE7R9I

To help me confirm this on your system, could you please re-test using the following updates:

  • CapCut – Version 7.7.0 (Beta Test Version 4)

  • Intel Graphics Driver – Version 32.0.101.8331

After updating both CapCut and the driver, please let me know if the issue persists. Your feedback will help me verify whether these updates resolve the behavior you experienced.

Thank you for your cooperation, and I look forward to your response.

I watched the video on YouTube and saw that you barely have any effects. Earlier I shared my project, which is supposed to put a heavy load on the GPU.

Here’s the link again:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1d2SVrbIkJ0ZEr9uJqRxVjepSeLdk9fTy/view?usp=sharing

You’re supposed to just drop it into the folder
C:\Users\ ... \AppData\Local\CapCut\User Data\Projects\com.lveditor.draft
and then open it in CapCut.
It needs to be tested with actual load, because with just one effect and transition I also don’t get any lag.

Please try it. If it lags on your side as well, then the issue is definitely with the drivers. For reference, I always keep both my drivers and CapCut updated.

Hello Uliana,

Thank you for providing the project and the detailed instructions. I’ll follow your steps exactly, drop the project into the specified folder, and open it in CapCut to test it under actual load. Once I complete the test, I’ll provide you with an update so we can determine if the issue is related to the drivers or something else.

I appreciate your patience and for providing all the necessary details upfront.

Hello Uliana,

Thank you for your feedback. I understand this is taking longer than anticipated. I've tested the project you shared, though I noticed some files are missing from the Google Drive. Despite this, I was able to identify the issue during my testing.

I'll continue investigating to determine the root cause and will update you once I have a solution. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
