The Mouse Pointer for Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit Build 10586 in the Boot Manager is not displayed as a Mouse Pointer.

Hi All,

I have an ASUS Motherboard P8B75-M/CSM with built-in Intel Graphics w/ Intel Core i3 Processor 3.30 Ghz Speed. The Graphics Version is win64_153338.

I am not having any crashes or lockups or freezes because of the Graphics on this computer, however I lost the Mouse Pointer from the Windows Boot Manager for the operating systems.

The Mouse Pointer had been available until Build 10532 was installed.

Using WagnardMobile DDU Utility and removing the Intel Graphics, which needs to be done to remove Windows.old Folder, the Mouse Pointer shows up again in the Windows Boot Manager. When I reinstall or upgrade the Intel Graphics, the Mouse Pointer is missing again.

What setting do I need to change to restore the Mouse Pointer to the Windows Boot Manager?

Is this related to the boot logo appearing twice in build 10586 and not 10240? It seems that the boot logo only appears once with the basic display adapter and everything works fine.

Hi intelhd4,

Are you dual-booting? Desktop or Laptop Computer? My problem is related to a Desktop Computer. The Boot logo that you mention, only appears twice, when you are booting into the operating system, not the default operating system. When you choose to boot into the other operating system, the computer reboots / restarts and boots into the operating system, chosen, bypasses the boot manager. Thus you see the Boot Logo again. You also see the Boot Logo, after the system repairs the File System on startup, as well.

I am single booting on a laptop computer, but I have issues with the boot logo appearing twice on startup using build 10586. The mouse pointer seems to work only when the boot logo appears once on startup.

Hi intelhd4,

What is the boot logo you are referring to? Are you referring to say the option to access Computer Bios? If you are seeing that twice, then the computer is crashing during boot up and you have the computer operating system to Automatically Restart in case of a Blue Screen.

The time to display a list of operating systems on a Single operating system, like a Laptop, should be set to 0. When Dual-booting, it should be set to something, you, the User would be comfortable with. Mine is set for 6 seconds.

thecreator, unfortunately I have not been able to replicate this behavior. On my very first test, I used a https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Z97PRO_GAMER/ Z97-PRO GAMER | Motherboards | ASUS Global running a http://ark.intel.com/products/75036/Intel-Core-i5-4430-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_20-GHz Intel® Core™ i5-4430 Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.20 GHz) Specifications and http://www.esaitech.com/maxtor-maxline-iii-7l250s0-250gb-7200rpm-sata-150-16mb-3-5-hard-drive.html?gclid=CIm7nau-yssCFdcRgQodI_oNeA Storage :: Hard Drives :: Maxtor Maxline III 7L250S0 250GB 7200RPM SATA/150 16MB 3.5" Hard Drive -. I followed your instructions, entered the windows boot manager with one partition for Windows 10 Build 10240 and the other partition for Windows 10 Build 10586 and the mouse cursor worked fine, it was present and I was able to move it around. Then, on my second test I used a http://ark.intel.com/products/59044/Intel-Desktop-Board-DQ77MK?q=Intel%C2%AE%20Desktop%20Board%20DQ77MK Intel® Desktop Board DQ77MK Specifications running http://ark.intel.com/products/65693/Intel-Core-i3-3220-Processor-3M-Cache-3_30-GHz Intel® Core™ i3-3220 Processor (3M Cache, 3.30 GHz) Specifications and the same hard drive, but this time I had to reinstalled the operating system. Once done, entered the windows boot manager with one partition for Windows 10 Build 10240 and the other partition for Windows 10 Build 10586 and the mouse cursor worked fine, it was present and I was able to move it around.

I do not see this as an issue with the Intel® HD Graphics since I installed it and uninstalled it and everything worked fine.

How are you creating the image for Windows® 10?

Hi @Amy_Intel,

Initially, I upgraded over top of Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit Service Pack 1 to Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit Build 10240 and the Mouse Pointer was available as your tests, have shown. Then Build 10586 was downloaded via Windows Update and I lost the Mouse Pointer in the Dual-Boot Manager.

Make sure without clicking on anything in the Boot / Dual-Boot Manager that the computer goes into Windows 10 Pro Build 10586. That is the Default operating system. Verify the Build Version, by right-clicking on Start and in Run, type in winver and click OK

In your second test, with Intel-Core i3-3220 Processor, that's my CPU Processor being used. Once you verify that Build 10586, is the Default operating system, reboot the computer. Now see if you can select Build 10240, using the Mouse Pointer. The Mouse Pointer should not be seen, which is what I am complaining about.

thecreator, I want to recap a couple of things here;

  • Have you tried entering the Advanced Boot menu with the build version 10586? Does the mouse pointer disappear?
  • When you access the boot manager, we know that mouse pointer disappears, but does it really work? I mean, are you aware if it works?
  • Try unplugging and plugging the mouse when mouse pointer disappears.
  • Have you tried using a different mouse(I know that you mentioned that you tested this on a different computer, but I need to confirm)? Perhaps a wireless or wired mouse.

Hi Amy_Intel,

Point One. The Mouse Pointer is not seen in the Boot Manager, where Build 10586 is the Default Operating System. The Mouse Pointer is not seen, and when I move the Mouse around. So, therefore, I need to use the Keyboard to select the other operating system.

Point Two. The Mouse works, if I move the highlighted from one operating system to the other.

Point Three. The Mouse works in ASUS Motherboard BIOS and never disappears.

Point Four: I have the same Brand of Logitech Mouse on another computer with an EVGA Nvidia GeForce 210 512 MB DDR2 card installed and the Mouse Pointer is always seen in the Boot Manager.

And. If you uninstall the Intel Graphics Driver from Build 10586, using Display Driver Uninstaller from Wagnard Mobile, using Safe Mode, while Build 10586 is still the default operating system, the Mouse Pointer is very much available. Therefore the Mouse works just fine. Only the Intel Graphics prevents the Mouse Pointer from being seen.

With Build 10240, the Mouse Pointer is very much seen and available to make selections.

With Build 10586, The Intel Graphics needs to be updated to fully work in Build 10586 and beyond, and allow the Mouse Pointer to be seen in the Boot Manager.

thecreator, honestly I have not been able to replicate this behavior, but I am going to give it one more shot, I will try to replicate this in a different system.

I will keep you posted.

Hi @Amy_Intel,

Thank you.

Just showing you, the Motherboard, I am working with:

http://www.amazon.com/P8B75-M-CSM-Intel-Micro-Motherboard/dp/B007RIFMQA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1459381333&sr=8-1&keywords=motherboard+p8b75-m/csm http://www.amazon.com/P8B75-M-CSM-Intel-Micro-Motherboard/dp/B007RIFMQA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1459381333&sr=8-1&keyword

And on my System, this is the CPU Processor:

http://www.amazon.com/Intel-i3-3220-Processor-Cache-BX80637i33220/dp/B008F65MO0/ref=pd_sim_sbs_147_1?ie=UTF8&dpID=51%2BaFFZMPnL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR128%2C160_&refRID=0RW02PNTY9EH4DDYHPF5 Amazon.com: Intel Core i3-3220 Processor (3M Cache, 3.30 GHz) BX80637i33220: Computers & Accessories

On-board Intel Graphics.

It works with Build 10240 and does not with Build 10586. That is the ability to see the Mouse Pointer in the Dual Boot Manager, in order to switch between two operating systems, without using the Keyboard.

Hi @Amy_Intel,

Any news on, new Drivers to fix the problem?

I have been working on this over and over, but unfortunately I am not able to replicate it, that behavior does not occur in our systems. If this cannot be replicated from our end it is very unlikely that you will get any new driver, you would need more people to chime in on this; someone who is having the exact same problem as you, and at the moment you seemed to be the only one.

As I mentioned before to the community, if you know anything about this please join this thread, feel free to fill out the , so we can have more data in order to replicate this.

Hi @Amy_Intel,

Since Intel does not have access to this Motherboard, is there a way to upload a Video of what I see happening?

Attached is the System from Windows 10 Pro Insider Preview 32-Bit Build 14316. Unable to attached a Notepad file.

Sorry, I did not understand. Do you mean recording yourself through the process? Either way, you could upload it to a cloud service and I can access it.

Hi @Amy_Intel,

You are correct. It did not fix the issue. The update did indeed install without a problem, updating the installed Driver as well as a Clean Install using DDU without the Intel Driver installed. The Mouse works in the Boot Manager with the Intel Drivers installed, but it does not display the Mouse Pointer.

Without the Intel Drivers being installed, the Mouse Pointer is visible and there is no guesswork involved, where the Mouse Ponter is located.

The Intel Drivers are preventing the Mouse Pointer from being displayed, in the Boot Manager.
