Hello Emberglow,

In this particular case, Intel provides generic versions of drivers for general purposes. Your http://www.intel.com/support/oems.htm computer manufacturer may have altered the features, incorporated customizations, or made other changes to your driver.

Intel recommends you contact your computer manufacturer for the latest system specific updates and technical support information.

Hi Emberglow,

Before you struggle too much further with this - could you possibly supply a full model name/number of you computer? This so we may look at Dells precise hardware configuration for your specific model.

Also, there have several similar driver installation issues reported lately. I would advice you to manually uninstall your current graphics driver, before attempting to uninstall the new one. This seems to have solved your illustrated issue for many users. The latest Beta drivers (Brand new Dell XPS 13, without specific model confirmation from you) as of current date, would be this:

Same Problem on several different Lenovo ThinkCentre E73 PCs with Intel Pentium G Processors running Windows 7 x64. Since Intel HD Graphics Windows Update from 2016-07-28.

Older Driver works.

Hi, peers:

Have you tested the methods noted below?

Additionally, it is good to disconnect the device from the internet while following these steps.

http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005474.html How to Manually Install a Graphics Driver in Windows 7*

http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005629.html How to Manually Install an Intel® Graphics Driver in Windows® 10 &...

The limitation about this is the driver itself (from OEM), they have restrictions in their installation files which requires having certain IDs noted in the driver (their signature lets say) so, our drivers are generic, therefore, they don't have those IDs only Intel's ID, that is the main reason why this error appears while installing drivers (generic).

Hope this helps and you can get those drivers updated.
