ThinkPad T15p Gen 2i cannot output 1440p

Hi everyone,

I just bought a new monitor which is 1440p that I'm not able to use at full power because my ThinkPad T15p Gen 2i cannot output 1440p with HDMI, at least I'm not able to.

Steps taken:

1.  2560 * 1440 as been set on both Windows Display Settings and Intel Control Graphic Center (I have my computer in another language don't know the actual name of the application), and it shows as indicated bellow with black bars and the actual image being weird.

2. Bought a new 2.1 HDMI cable and it is not from that (tried 3 different ones with the same output)

3. My other laptop wasn't able to output 1440p through HDMI but since it had DP I used that one so monitor is fine (thinkpad only has HDMI and a USB-C for charging).

4. NVIDIA settings do not have the display settings. 

5. My laptop has a i7-11800H so it should also be able to output it.

What can I do next?

In order to have a better understanding of your issue, please provide me with the following:

• Have you tried installing the latest Graphics driver? There are two different types of drivers, generics provided by Intel and Equipment Manufacturer drivers, that are customized to work with each specific system. The best thing to do is to use the drivers provided by the system manufacturer (OEM) However you can also try using our Intel® Driver & Support Assistant (Intel® DSA) which will help you keep your system up to date; you should know that the Intel® DSA installs Intel generics drivers

• Also, I would ask you to create a report using the following applications:

• Intel®️ System Support Utility (Intel®️ SSU)  
  • Download the Intel SSU (https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/18377/25293/intel-system-support-utility-for-windows.html)
  • Open the application and click on "Scan" to see the system and device information. By default, Intel®️ SSU will take you to the "Summary View." 
  • Click on the menu where it says: "Summary" to change it to "Detailed View." 
  • To save your scan: click on "Next"; then "Save." 

• Intel® Graphics Command Center:
  • Open the Intel Graphics Command Center
  • Navigate to the Support tab
  • Select System Diagnostic
  • Click Generate Report
  • Select Save and name the output file.

Thanks for the information provided.

I noticed that your system has a discrete graphics card installed on your system. The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 is part of your laptop. Since your system has two hardware pieces dedicated to the graphics processes, you should know that it is up to the manufacturer to decide how they behave and work together. I would recommend contacting your system manufacturer as they have a much better understanding of how both GPUs (Integrated GPU and Discrete GPU) work together. They will provide you with further Troubleshooting.
