TrueColorALS and igfxext.exe

Another user came up with a solution to the excessive procreation (spawning) of igfxext.exe processes.

A temporary fix is to kill TrueColorALS.

Question: Is Intel investigating this problem and plan to fix it?

I got to spend my weekend reloading Win10 on my laptop and recovering all of my applications because I blew up my laptop trying to find a solution to this.

The respawning of igfxext was consuming 15% - 25% of my CPU which was absolutely unacceptable.

Hello cggalloway

Thank you for posting on the Intel️® communities.

To start an investigation on this we need more information, please share with us the Intel® System Support Utility (Intel® SSU)

  • Download the Intel SSU https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility-for-Windows
  • Open the application and select "Everything" click on "Scan" to see the system and device information. By default, Intel® SSU will take you to the "Summary View".
  • Click on the menu where it says "Summary" to change to "Detailed View".
  • To save your scan, click on "Next", then "Save".
