Version: 31.0.101.2121 Graphics Driver

I just downloaded this driver to replace Version: 31.0.101.2115.  Now audio playback on my laptop is glitching.  I also downloaded a wireless update and one other, but now Intel will not complete a scan of my system so that I can identify the other updates.

The audio glitch had been happening a few months ago and got better but after downloading this graphics update the audio playback is not functional.  Also, when I restart my computer after installing the 2121 update, Intel keeps telling me that update needs to be installed even when it's the current version on my computer.

Please advise.

Hello LH8,

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities.

I am sorry you are having issues with the graphics driver, I will be glad to help you.

In order to better assist you, please download the Intel® SSU https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility-for-Windows-

Open the application and select "Everything", click on "Scan" to see the system and device information. By default, Intel® SSU will take you to the "Summary View". Click on the menu where it says "Summary" to change to "Detailed View". To save your scan, click on "Next", then "Save". Please attach the file to your reply.

Best regards,

Please try a clean installation of the latest driver 31.0.101.2115 (https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/762755/intel-6th-10th-gen-processor-graphics-windows.html) and also the OEM driver v27.20.100.9664 (https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/product-support/product/inspiron-15-7580-laptop/drivers).

Let me know if the glitch continues after trying any of those drivers.

I did a clean install of 31.0.101.2115.  After reinstalling the 31.0.101.2115, my audio has been a little more stable.  The glitching is very random in occurrence, though, so time will tell if it continues to happen.  Audio and video files play continuously, but the sound coming through the speakers or headphones is what cuts out.  Sometimes the cutting out is a word or two, but other times it's full sentences or I'm just hearing a string of partial words.

I have not yet installed the OEM driver v27.20.100.9664.  When I started that process, a pop-up window warned me that my computer currently has a newer version of that driver.  The driver currently on my system is Intel Display Audio (10.27.0.12).  I have not been able to locate the current driver online, so once I replace it, I don't know if I would be able to get it back if necessary.  So I just wanted to confirm that I should continue with overwriting the newer version of the OEM driver with the older version.

Thank you for your continued assistance.

Thank you for your reply.

I am glad to know the audio is more stable now.

Please be aware that if the issue is with the internal speakers or headphones, the driver used is the Realtek one, so you should update it if you have not already (https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=6wwxv&oscode=wt64a&productcode=inspiron-15-7580-laptop). In case the issue persists, we recommend contacting Dell support.

Even though the OEM driver version is older, we always recommend installing those drivers as they are usually customized for your system, however that does not imply the Intel generic driver will not work. In any case, you can confirm this information with Dell.

Hi, Steven,

My apologies.  I forgot to respond after your last post.

I did download the Realtek driver.  It looked like it was the same as the one I already had, but I went ahead and installed it just to be sure.   My audio has been more stable over the last several days and has not been cutting out like it had been.  So it appears that one or more of the drivers you suggested has helped the situation.   Hopefully the audio performance will remain stable.

Thank you for taking the time to investigate and suggest updates to help with the issue I was having.
