Hello again everyone. Following in the same spirit as the last Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 3600 driver feedback thread, I'm making a new one to announce our latest driver release. Version 1091 just went live today, and I would again like to ask everyone to provide constructive feedback on it.
The link to the download is here; http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=3468&DwnldID=22633&ProductFamily=Graphics&ProductLine=Netbook+and+Tablet+Graphics&ProductProduct=Intel%c2%ae+Graphics+Media+Accelerator+3600+Series&DownloadType=Drivers&lang=eng Download Center
The same rules apply for this thread as did apply for the last one. This thread is dedicated specifically to this driver and the feedback for this driver. This thread is not a discussion place for Windows* 8 GMA 3600 driver questions/complaints, nor is it for Windows* 7 GMA (64-bit) driver requests/complaints. Any such comments will be promptly deleted. However, please feel free to use any of the already-existing threads of that topic to discuss and provide feedback there.
Along with the feedback, if there are any new issues that resulted from the new driver, please provide detailed information on where you saw them, how it happened, and what steps to reproduce.
Thank you,
-Nicics_media_

I think my higher scores are caused by all the RAM I freed up by closing unnecessary processes like Microsoft Security Essentials and such, and the Disk Cleanup and defrag I ran before the test. My Processor score has dipped to 3.1 before, and the Graphics score has previously been 5.6.

Strange. But Windows benchmarks are not very realistic, a lot of more powerful graphic chipsets won't even reach 5 in 2D performance.
Usually the GMA 3600 reaches 5.7 or more in that area, maybe you should check if your HD hardware playback is still functional. Or run the benchmark again...

So I did the benchmark check again after reinstalling any drivers again (perhaps some have been updated)...
CPU now 3,3 instead of 3,2
GPU 2D now 5,7 instead 5,3
GPU 3G remains at 3,2 and is now the lowest value.
Still waiting for updated drivers

I wouldn't pay much attention to that 2D score considering this GPU has pretty much the worst 2D performance ever seen on any chipset for over 10 years!

The first time I bought a device with hardware from Intel. And as well! This looks like it will be the first and last time

Lucky you My ratings have not improved a bit since... well since I have my netbook
That is to say no improvements since at least the 1083 drivers. Merely bug fixes...

Bugs:
Civilization 4 Colonization:
In Diplomacy menu:
https://www.box.com/s/4l0xpcgg1k3pp29ub5nw https://www.box.com/s/4l0xpcgg1k3pp29ub5nw
In regular play:
https://www.box.com/s/z92fncgsea7cwsnzlrgh https://www.box.com/s/z92fncgsea7cwsnzlrgh
These bugs don't occur in any of Civ 4's other expansions. I'm thinking it has to do with the Pixel Shader 1.1 that Colonization requires.
High quality special effects in Doom 3 don't work properly, and affected pixels are instead rendered as a solid color.
Halo is a miserable experience, with low framerates in many scenes, incorrectly mapped textures, and flickering junk polygons in certain areas.
Tribes Vengeance produces flickering on the left side of the screen when Glow Detail is set to anything higher than Low/Off and the menu is open. In-game, with no menu up, works fine, albeit slowly.
Midtown Madness 2 doesn't work well at all. With software T&L, there are many graphical errors, like untextured trees, random patches of fog, polygon morphing, etc. With hardware T&L, the framerate is much lower than with the stock 1065 driver, and the random fog patches have persisted in all versions of the driver.
MegaGlest suffers from invisible text, making it impossible to play. Glest works just fine.
Lego Star Wars: The Video Game displays some odd shimmering in affected areas when bump mapping is enabled.
Rollcage in D3D mode is super slow and has problems with transparency in certain textures. Rollcage Stage 2 works perfectly in D3D and Glide mode, while Rollcage is only playable in Glide mode (using Zeckensack's wrapper).
Morrowind works, but it takes more patience to play than I have. Any kind of menu being displayed is accompanied by a period of unresponsive and/or lag.
More screenshots to come as I make them. None of the games I've tried have been affected by the new driver; only the Experience Index has changed.

I think that the drivers will not do more for the reason that Windovs 8 does not support screen resolution 1024x600. Although I installed Windovs 8 - there are much better performance, and I would also like drivers for this system.

VIktor the screen resolution is not a problem because you can mod to have 1024x768
but if intel doesn't release a new driver we have buy a pc with stupid gma 3600

Hey Kory
I managed to remove the flickering "temporarly" by enabling VSYNC.
btw... on what device are you playing Doom 3 with the GMA3650?

Which flickering did you resolve with V Sync?
I play on a Gateway LT4004u with 2 GB of RAM and a 250 GB hard drive. Performance isn't great. Resurrection of Evil is a lot more fluid, but still slows down at times.

The flickering in the lower left side of the screen on Lego games and Half Life 2.
Hmm, the Gateway netbook seems to be the same as "our" european "Packard Bell DOT-S" netbook series. The specs are the same as my Toshiba NB520 - never thought of playing Doom 3 on it
Will try it too!

Oh, I see. I think 'flickering' isn't a good word to describe Halo; it's more "textured polygons flashing across the screen and completely ruining any sense of immersion." Turning on V-Sync doesn't do anything to fix the problem.
I figured I could play Doom 3 since it's OpenGL-based. Enabling shadows, specular maps, and bump maps have a negligible impact on framerate, so I'd recommend turning them on for some nice eye candy.

Ouch, some epic facepalms there...
I really hope Intel start to take support of these PowerVR GPU's seriously for once, the joke is too old now, we aren't laughing anymore.

Even more bugs:
Star Wars Battlefront:
https://www.box.com/s/ae5v26cn0iasub8gg8cr BattlefrontBug.jpg - Box - This bug occurs intermittently at random times in the game, unless the camera is looking at a glowing command post. Then it flares up badly, getting worse the closer you get to the post.
Halo:
https://www.box.com/s/7vsauxwxw0refo4zftk3 HaloBug.mp4 - Box - I managed to capture the polygon flashing in Halo with Fraps. Apparently Fraps captures video much better after that defrag.

I noticed that no matter what I load the video is not given, it will not affect the operation of the cooler. Hence I assume that the hardware capabilities are not used due to the absence of normal drivers

Since we are in a bug showdown, here is one I have noticed :
Some corruption can be seen when playing some .wmv HD videos (not all of them). Here is a screeshot of such video played with media player classic :
The video is one of the videos used for Windows SAT and can be found in any Windows 7 system :
C:\Windows\Performance\WinSAT\Clip_1080_5sec_VC1_15mbps.wmv
More reports to come should I notice other bugs (which is highly probable, the driver has plenty of potential in this domain )
Edit : I have seen this corruption since the 1083 driver (driver shipped with my netbook).
