XE graphics visual artefacts on connected TV

Hello,

I have vertical flickering stripe of artefacts on the left side of the screen then TV is connected in 120 hz mode via thunderbolt 4 to HDMI 2.1 adapter. Regardless of resolution the shimmering stripe is there, unless it's connected in 30-60hz refresh rate OR through laptop's hdmi 2.0 port(which again connected to cpu, sadly not to discrete rtx 4060m). BTW in direct hdmi2.0 connecting case aspect ratio didn't recognize right and black bars appearing, tweaking scale size/ resolution in Win11 settings or in TV did not help. I clean installed 3 month older Intel XE driver, 8bit or 10bit HDR on/off, no changes.

The main concern is flickering artefacts, I want stable 4k 120hz connection

Laptop - Lenovo slim(Yoga)9i with I9 13905h rtx4060m TB4 and hdmi2.0 ports

TV - LG C9 with 48gbps HDMI 2.1 ports

HDMI2.1 certified cable and TB4 to 8k hdmi2.1 adapter(with VMM7100 chip, perform well with older laptop and android tablet)

Windows 11 Home 23H2 and all latest drivers are installed

You can try updating the VMM7100 to the generic USB-C > HDMI firmware version 7.02.120 which Cable Matters offers for download.

Thanks for the response, but my adapter doesn't even recognized by VmmDPTool, after launching appear "Cannot find Synaptics MSR DP hub IC" report only and not launching updating tool. At the same time in taskbar icons tray I clearly see eject VMM7100 option (like with flash drives).

Frankly, after couple days glitching now adapter works without artefacts, at least for now 🙂

Please note that in order to access the VMM7100 chip, the adapter on the HDMI side must be connected to a switched-on display. If that is the case, right click "VmmDPTool.exe" and choose "Run as administrator".

Artefacts are back! That update was addressed to compatibility issues, including LG tvs haha.

I did exactly like that several times, TV was connected through adapter and VMM hardware was identified by Windows. After WinDefender warning I had run anyway as admin. Only "Cannot find Synaptics MSR DP hub IC" message pop-uped. I guess that tool don't run on non-cablematters adapters. On VMM chip developer Synaptics' site cannot find other software.

This chip is actually always implemented generically. Could you link the adapter you have? Which product is it exactly?
