I'm having a problem getting shaded views in Houdini 14.0.36
Dell 3847 quad core intel HD 4600, driver of 7/27/2015.
The only way I get any shading on a brand-new object is
'hidden line ghost'. For an object with uvtextures- vertex shading I can get 'smooth wire shaded' also, everything else is wireframe.
I have no idea what those numbers are, posting on Houdini Forums is a waste of time. I've read about the 4080 driver may work better,
the link to older drivers is dead though.

Hi Terry,
We were delayed by Siggraph and IDF preparations but we finally had a chance to look into this.
We didn’t notice any difference between NVIDIA and our Intel HD 5200 system, using driver 10.18.15.4256 (7/17/2015) on a Win10 (64bit) machine.
First thing we noticed were some missing files:
The different rendering modes rendered correctly for us. You may want to change your viewport draw distance, that may be why you don't see anything. (http://www.sidefx.com/docs/houdini14.0/ref/windows/displayopts_3d).
The numbers you asked about are the UV coordinates:

I'm getting shading in shaded wireframe view. Those aren't missing files, just missing parameters. I know it's not your area but
I'd like to get rid of the UV number display and if you go spacebar-5 UV view there should be a checkerboard 'uv_grid_grey.pic'
displaying.

True it is not our area, I have asked around and no one has a lot of experience with Houdini. One of our internal tech artists (who doesn't use Houdini unfortunately) suggested this site as a place you may get the help you need: http://tech-artists.org/
