Hey guys,
I've just purchased Lenovo 320-15IKB Laptop (ideapad) , it was working absolutely fine, no issues at all, and then I started to see a strange issue happening when the driver for Intel HD 620 is installed:
There's a strange flickering, I'm not sure if I should call it flickering or slow refresh rates, I'm not really good with these things! , and also the mouse pointer moves slower, not slower as slower but, it's not properly moving, just feels like the intel HD card is not recognized or something even though it is!
But I've recorded a video of my screen, and to get it even stranger, the issue gets sorted by me disabling and enabling the driver again from the device manager! and it comes back again after that when I do something that requires the screen to be turned completely off and on.
I'm running Windows 10 x64 pro, haven't tested it yet on windows 8.1, but if it's a driver issue and needs to switch to 8.1 I'm more than happy to do that!
the Place I purchased the laptop from is too far from my home, so I was hoping I could do my homework before I get back to the point of sale.
My Laptop specs:
Processor: Intel Core i5-72000U
RAM: 8GB
Hard Drive: 1TB HDD
Intel VGA: Intel HD Graphics 620
AMD VGA: AMD Radeon R7 M440 4GB
I've tried lots of things, including a new fresh installation of Windows 10, trying different types of Intel drivers, tried updating the driver from device manager, driver from Intel, Lenovo and 3rd party, still no clue!
P.S
games work absolutely fine.
issue happens on whatever screen, but it's more noticeable on the brighter backgrounds, tried lots of drivers, from Lenovo, and now I'm trying a driver I downloaded from this link: https://downloadmirror.intel.com/26772/eng/win64_154518.4664.zip downloaded file name is: win64_154518.4664
Here's a link to the video I recorded to show you the exact problem: https://1drv.ms/v/s!Aul5iReHdTkMgnUfwzUuwGZ1CQwZ Microsoft OneDrive - Access files anywhere. Create docs with free Office Online.

Don't do that, your Intel HD 620 GPU is not supported on Windows 8.1
Here is a list of available drivers you can try: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/96551/Intel-HD-Graphics-620 Downloads for Intel® HD Graphics 620
Otherwise reset your PC as described at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12415/windows-10-recovery-options Recovery options in Windows 10
Don't forget to backup your personal data to an external medium beforehand.

thanks for your reply, the thing is that I see in the link you mentioned to download from, 2 of the drivers there says Windows 8.1 under the OS, so I think this means it is supported?

Windows 8.1 support is only for the older 6th generation Skylake GPUs, the description is a bit confusing.
Also check out:

Oh, I see..
Okay so I've got 2 questions now:
1- how bad could it be if I installed windows 8.1? even if it's not supported, how would that affect me? since I'm only doing that to get around that flickering issue and the intel graphics card will not be used at all for anything above normal, what would happen if I installed that 6th gen version?
2- if we continue with windows 10: can we troubleshoot it from a Windows perspective? I mean, can you tell me how I can check for the currently installed windows version and tell you so that it could be the problem? maybe I installed an old version of Windows 10 that doesn't support the card?! or windows version has nothing to do with this?

1) the drivers would fail to install on Windows 8.1
2) retrieve all system specifications with https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility Intel® System Support Utility for Windows
Did you already check https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12415/windows-10-recovery-options Recovery options in Windows 10 ?

1- I've checked system specifications with https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility Intel® System Support Utility for Windows , what should I do with that now? shall I submit it here to you?
2- I've already checked the recovery options, I've tried the reset, and to setup a fresh windows with formatting the Local disc (as it's all new so I didn't lose anything) but this didn't help, these are the available options for me to do from that list over there.

Hello MohannadHamdy,
I understand you are getting flickering issues on your Lenovo 320-15IKB Laptop.
I would like to check if there is anything else that can be done to fix this issue. Please attach to this thread the .txt file the Intel® System Support Utility will generate https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility
To attach a file, you must click "Use Advanced Editor" on the upper right hand corner of the response box, then the "attach" option will appear on the bottom right hand corner of the response box.
Regards,
Fred D.

Hey Fred,
Thanks for your reply pal, it was an issue with the laptop itself, I eventually took it back to the point of sale, and got it replaced and this one is working fine (even though there is a fan noise which also existed in the one I got replaced, looks like it's an issue with the model itself, I guess I'll have to check with the guys from Lenovo about that).

I purchased the same laptop yesterday, but with NVIDIA 2GB GeForce 920MX. I am facing the same issue of flickering as yours. To stop the screen from flickering I have disabled IntelHD 620 but that way I am not able to use the display features like adjust brightness. Therefore, can you please confirm me that the issue was with the PC itself so that I can proceed to service center .
