Hi I have an advent T1 all in one pc which uses the intel 82801eb with ich5 controller chip. (Trigem N1 motherboard).

The USB ports no longer work neither does the onboard webcam, all USB enabled in BIOS and all show as ok in device manager WEB CAM NOT DETECTED (dual boot XP and Windows7).

I uninstalled the usb devices and windows detects them and adds the drivers reporting all ok , I have checked that I get 5v on the usb ports- all ok.

I read on internet that the ich5 chip is prone to failing, can anyone advise if I can DO ANY TESTS TO PROVE THE ICH5 is fully function reference USB CONTROL. I think the chip also controls the sound which is working fine.

Please advise any help appreciated.

I have a second Advent T1 which works 100% fine usb and web cam, I suspect that the ICH5 chip was damaged with a power surge.
