Card: Onix Odyssey Intel Arc B570
Intel Arc Graphics Driver Version: 32.0.101.6647
System specs:
CPU: Ryzen 5 9600x
GPU: Onix Odyssey Intel Arc B570
RAM: 32 GB DDR5 6000 MHz
850W PSU
ISSUE: Hello, I am having an issue with Ace Combat 7, Steam version, where it does not seem to be utilizing my B570 card. I am running the game at native 1440p, all graphical settings are on high with FXAA high.
From the moment the game starts, in the opening splash screens, I am getting 10 - 15 FPS maximum. My B570 hovers around 20% usage, frequency stays between ~400 MHz and 800 MHz, and power draw stays between 19 W and 35 W, although it's spiked up to 50 W once. Only 1 GB of VRAM is being used.
I will make it clear, I am not playing the game at this moment. I am just in the main menu. On my old XFX RX580, a card far less powerful than my B570, I could consistently run AC7 on these exact settings over 60 FPS with no frametime or frame issues.
I cannot directly add .json files for some reason, despite the pinned post telling me to do so, so I'll add the CapFrameX files as .txts, with three Cyberpunk 2077 ones to compare against (Medium settings, balanced XeSS 1.3.2).
I've ruled out that it's an Unreal Engine 4 issue, as the frame problem is not replicable in other UE4 games, such as Project Wingman or AMID EVIL. Any help would be greatly appreciated as AC7 is a game I spend a great deal of time playing.

Hello all, I've managed to fix the issue by disabling my iGPU in my motherboard's BIOS. I'm not sure why I didn't think of this sooner, but once I did the issue disappeared.
I would like to be able to play these games without having to do that, just in case something happens to my GPU and I need to boot without it, but it works fine now. Thank you all for the help!

Driver update 32.0.101.6651 did not fix the issue—Ace Combat 7 still does not work off of my B570, instead using my CPU's iGPU (presumably, as sitting in the main menu I'm over 90% CPU usage with under 15% GPU usage, as shown in the old CapFrameX recordings)
In any case, thank you for the update, Earl. It's good to know this is still being looked at.

Hi x6568tank,
Thank you for trying out the latest Graphics Driver update, but since the issue still persists, can you make another CapFrameX recording with longer duration? ideally 3-5mins.
By the way, can you confirm if whether the app and game are utilizing the graphics card by setting it to Arc Graphics?
- For guidance, you can check our article How To Set the Default GPU for Applications and Games.
Can you also capture a screenshot of the game settings you're using so we can accurately replicate the problem using your configuration.
Best regards,
Earl E.

Hello x6568tank,
I writing to give you an update about your concern.
Based on your description, it appears that your system is using the integrated graphics card instead of the discrete graphics card. Although on our tests, we did not encounter the issue, we suggest the using the troubleshooting steps from the article: How To Set the Default GPU for Applications and Games
First, make sure your discrete graphics card is the main source of display
- Verify in Device Manager/Display Adapters if Discrete Graphics Card is grayed out. Make sure to enable it in the BIOS settings or video card settings.
- Connect the video cable to the Discrete Graphics Card's port instead of the motherboard's back panel.
To set the default GPU for your application or game, you'll need to associate your games with it so your computer will know which GPU to use. (by default the option set is Let Windows decide)
- From Start Icon, type "Graphics Settings" and Click the results from System Settings.
- Click Desktop App.
- Browse your application. If your application is not on the list, you will need to browse for the folder where the .exe file is located.
- Click on the application name/icon.
- Click Options.
- Set the application to your preferred GPU.
- Click save.
After following the steps above, kindly check our test results below. Bye the way, we recommend that you update your graphics driver to the latest version - 32.0.101.6653.
Intel® Arc™ B570 - 32.0.101.6653
NVIDIA 3060 - 32.0.15.7283
If you observe the same issue, please let me know.

I would rather not be condescended by someone who cannot use the correct "by" when writing "by the way" so I will keep this brief.
If you had read any of my previous messages, or checked their attachments, you would know that I have already done everything you've asked of me. I have my monitor connected to my GPU, my GPU is both enabled in my BIOS and detected and in use by my system, and I have already told Windows to use my Intel Arc B570 for Ace Combat 7, however it does not work. My GPU load is consistently under 20% when playing AC7, whereas my CPU's iGPU is over 90%.
Yes, I have downloaded today's graphic driver version 32.0 .101.6732. No, there has not been any difference in performance.
Please learn to read and write, or get one of your literate coworkers, and return. As an IT professional myself, I understand you are used to dealing with idiots. I am not one, skip the beginning troubleshooting that your coworkers have already done. As shown by the user who replied to your post first, R7-9700X-ARC-B580, my issue is not unique.

Hi x6568tank,
I apologize for the confusion on the previous post.
Rest assured that I will look into this further given that the problem still exists even after installing the most recent GPU drivers.
I'll provide you an update as soon as I can.

Hi @x6568tank
I was able to reproduce this issue, it turns out this behavior only reproduces when pairing AMD integrated graphics with Intel Arc discrete.
When using Intel integrated graphics + Intel Arc discrete the game runs correctly on the Arc GPU.
I'm not in the dev team myself, but my current hypothesis is that the game code is written so when Intel Graphics is detected the game skips it and prioritizes the non-Intel option, essentially assuming it is a less powerful integrated graphics since Arc GPU did not exist at the time the game was launched.
Anyway, I'll report this to our driver debug team for further investigation and will update this thread as soon as possible.
Best Regards,
Ronald M.
