Breaking Limit "com.basemark.gpuscore.breakinglimit.free" glitched screen in Ubuntu Linux, B580

Glitched screen while running benchmark in kde plasma waylandGlitched screen while running benchmark in kde plasma waylandbenchmark settingsbenchmark settings

I'm having trouble with Vulkan on a B580 card on my Ubuntu system. When I run this benchmark, the screen is filled with glitched green squares. Furmark also causes the 2560x1440@60Hz screen to flicker.

Basemark Breaking Limit displays similar artifacts on Plasma (X11), while Furmark VK seems to work correctly in that environment.

Is this the right place to ask?

Thanks

Thank you for posting in Intel Communities.

I would like to know more about your system details to fully understand this issue. Please help share the following information so I can further investigate this problem:

1) What is the drivers version of the B580?

2) Do you experience any other issues other than glitching?

3) What is the highest resolution you tried using B580 in ubuntu?

Additionally, I would highly appreciate you sharing both of your system configuration so I can fully check and provide you with an accurate fix. This could be possible by downloading the Intel® System Support Utility for Windows* software. When the download is complete, launch SSU.exe.

Scan: Check the box Everything.

Click Scan.

Review: When finished scanning, click Next.

Click Save (.txt). *Attach the log file for both laptop and desktop systems as you reply.

I will wait for your reply.

Hello Daniel_Linux,

Thank you for patiently waiting. Upon checking on this concern, I have reviewed that the motherboard specifications support only Windows OS. and to eliminate the potential compatibility issue. Have you tried using Vulkan and B580 on a Windows OS?

If not, kindly try to use it on a Windows OS, and if the issue still persists, kindly let me know for me to check on this.

Best regards,

The issue is with bugs in the Linux drivers. The motherboard does support Linux.

The same program does run okay on Windows on the same machine.

Hello Daniel_Linux,

I see that you've already tried running it on Windows. I wanted to confirm if you have tested other versions of the Mesa driver. Additionally, could you provide the link where you downloaded the Mesa driver version 25.0? According to the Mesa website, the latest version is 24.3.4. Could you try using this version and see if the issue persists?

The issue does persist on Linux with Mesa 24.2.8-1ubuntu1~24.10.1, "Breaking Limit" displays green static. In all versions of the driver, a few frames are intelligible with some static; but most of the frames are completely green static.

Hello Daniel_Linux,

Thank you for providing the details. I needed to better replicate this issue with glitching. While I'm replicating this issue on my end, kindly follow the steps in this article on how to install the graphics driver in Ubuntu.

Hello Daniel_Linux,

Thank you for patiently waiting. I already replicated this issue in our laboratory and found out that the app doesn't seem to be Ubuntu 24.10 LTS ready.

While replicating this issue using B580 the corruption appears that's why I tried to use a different Graphics Card which is RTX 4060 with the latest driver 560 and the app keeps on freezing at startup.

What I can advise you right now to contact the application developer for additional support since this seems to be broken in ubuntu.
