Hello There,
I'm quite clueless. I cannot get my ARC A310 to work on Ubuntu 24.02 lts.
I am using a Mac Mini 2018 with an Razor Core X EGPU Enclosure.
i want to use this setup as media server for av1 encoding/decoding.
I authorized and enrolled to thunderbolt device:
boltctl
● Razer Core X
├─ type: peripheral

the gpu is also recognized by lspci:
spci | grep -i vga

somehow i cannot see the device in /dev/dri
ls /dev/dri
by-path card0 renderD128
Only the igpu shows up...
this is dmesg output for xe and i915:

I also tried multiple kernels. I tried. 6.2, 6.3, 6.11.0 (current), 6.12.6, 6.12.12 and 6.13.5.

Hello darkatek7.
Thank you for engaging with the community. It appears there might be a compatibility issue with the eGPU setup. I will need some time to investigate this internally. Meanwhile, could you please provide the following information to assist with the investigation:
- Have you tested the eGPU with other systems?
- Are your graphics drivers up to date?
- You mentioned trying different kernel versions. Could you specify which versions you have tested?

Hello darkatek7,
Thank you for letting me know that the issue was resolved using Windows 11. I will continue to investigate this matter further since Intel Arc supports Ubuntu. Please allow me some time to look into this issue.

Hello darkatek7,
Thank you for your patience. After completing my investigation, I want to inform you that Intel® Arc™ Discrete Graphics Cards are not designed for use in eGPU configurations. While they may function to some extent, this setup is not officially supported.
To optimize the performance of your graphics card, please refer to the Intel Arc Graphics—Desktop Quick Start Guide.
With that I will now proceed with closing this thread. Thank you and have a great day!
Regards,
John Sergio M.
