Intel Arc A750 – Low GPU Usage in GTA V Enhanced Edition

Dear Intel Team,

Since the day I bought my PC, I've been facing low GPU utilization while playing GTA V Enhanced Edition using my Intel Arc A750 graphics card. The GPU usage stays around 50–60%, and even when I set frame scaling to 1.750, it barely reaches 90%, with FPS still locked around 60.

All in-game settings are set to Very High. I’ve reinstalled the game 3 times, set the process priority to high, enabled high performance mode in Windows graphics settings, disabled V-Sync, removed FPS caps, and ensured my drivers are up to date — but nothing changes.

My system is more than capable of running this game at 100–120 FPS, yet the GPU doesn’t seem to be fully utilized. This is especially frustrating with older games like GTA V.

Is there any fix, setting adjustment, or upcoming driver optimization planned to address this issue?

My System Specs:

  • CPU: Intel Core i3-12100F
  • RAM: 16 GB DDR4
  • GPU: Intel Arc A750
  • Driver Version: 32.0.101.6734 (WHQL Certified)
  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit

Thank you,
Lowroen

Hello @Lowroen I was wondering if you have already updated you CPU? With low-end processors, you can expect your GPU to be underutilized because the CPU can't provide data fast enough, causing a CPU bottleneck.
I just tried GTA V Enhanced Edition with a 14900 with all the cores enabled and with just 4 P-Cores enabled (simulating a 14100) and in both cases, I see my A750 at 100% utilization and framerate at about 93 FPS (give or take depending on the scene and CPU configuration).
Are you still seeing the issue in your system with our latest driver 32.0.101.7026

Yes, I upgraded from an i3-12100F to an i5-13400F and the bottleneck is completely gone. However, I noticed an issue specifically in GTA V Online: the GPU usage stays around 70% and the framerate doesn’t go above 90 FPS.

In Story Mode, everything is fine — GPU usage averages around 95% and I get 130–140 FPS without problems.

Is this limitation in GTA V Online due to the game itself, or could it be something else?

@Lowroen great to hear. As mentioned, the processor could affect the GPU utilization. I will quickly check the online version against one of our competitors' GPU and let you know. Live online content, your internet connection, game's servers locations, and such things could affect how the game performs.
I'll get back to you with my comments.

  • So, I made a quick test
walked for 100 seconds, then stay put for other 100 s. When doing nothing the camera enters a POV mode and rotates.
  • Settings in High, RT off, Vsync off, no framerate cap.

Here are the results:

I also saw around 90% of GPU usage in both cases.
What you are seeing in GTA V Online I believe is expected.  Do note I used the Enhanced version for the test.

I guess we can close this one, right?

I will test it when I’m available.
