Monster Hunter Wilds - Performance Issues A770 16gb on latest drivers

Hi everyone,

I've been experiencing some serious performance issues while playing Monster Hunter Wilds on my ARC GPU, and I wanted to share my findings and see if others are encountering similar problems.

The Issue:

The last two driver versions, 6266 and 6647, have caused significant drops in performance. Here's a breakdown of my experience:

  • Driver 6626: With Frame Generation ON, FSR 3, and graphics set to high/medium, I was getting around 35 FPS.

  • Driver 6647: Performance dropped to around 20 FPS or less, with more stuttering than before. Even after a clean DDU install, it performed worse than 6626.

  • Older Drivers (6045/6048): Rolling back to these versions drastically improved performance, with stable 50-60 FPS. Gameplay feels much smoother and more consistent.

System Specs:

  • CPU: Ryzen 5700X3D

  • RAM: 64GB DDR4 @ 3200 MHz

  • Storage: 1TB M.2 SSD (where the game is installed)

  • GPU: Acer Predator ARC A770 16GB

Observations:

I’ve noticed several other reports online from ARC GPU users encountering similar issues with Monster Hunter Wilds. It seems there might be a specific problem with how the recent drivers are optimized for this title.

Hello GFeonix,

Thank you for posting in the community and for sharing your observations and detailed information. You've provided almost all the necessary details to further investigate this issue. However, there's one more thing I'd like you to do. Since you've tested at least four different drivers to determine which version works best with the game, I would like to request that you use the CapframeX application with these graphics drivers.

Please run CapframeX for about 10 minutes or more while playing Monster Hunter World. This application will capture the FPS you're experiencing during gameplay. Once the report is generated, please send it to me. You can follow the steps outlined in this link, scrolling down to the "Performance" section for guidance: https://community.intel.com/t5/Intel-ARC-Graphics/Need-help-Reporting-a-bug-or-issue-with-Arc-GPU-PLEASE-READ-THIS/m-p/1494429#M5057

Thank you for understanding and patience on this matter.

Best regards,

If I have time on the weekend, I will do as you said. But I think you should first conduct this test in your laboratory, because this is a common problem (almost all A770 users have encountered this issue).

Hi, Samuryan.

Thanks for sharing the detailed breakdown of your Monster Hunter Wilds performance issues on the ARC GPU. Based on your experience, the performance drop with drivers 6266 and 6647 seems linked to game optimizations or broader compatibility issues with ARC GPUs. It's good to hear that rolling back to drivers 6045/6048 improved performance. Have you experienced similar issues with other games or apps, or is it specific to Monster Hunter Wilds? Also, could you share what settings you're using in the game besides Frame Generation and FSR 3? Are there any other in-game performance options you're adjusting?

Additionally, I'd like to delve deeper and verify specifics like the precise driver versions, and any system errors. Utilizing the Intel SSU tool will enable us to collect detailed information about your system setup, which could aid in identifying the underlying cause of this issue. To ensure your privacy and security, I recommend not sharing the Intel SSU logs on public forums, as they contain sensitive information about your system. Instead, please send the SSU logs to me via email. Once I receive the logs, I'll be able to further investigate the issue and assist you more effectively. After that, we can continue our communication in the community forum if needed.

@GFeonix I empathize with your situation and the issue you are facing. However, I kindly request that you create a new thread for your case. This will allow us to focus on your specific problem and provide you with better assistance.

What email address could I send the SSU and capframeX files to?

Attached are my graphics settings. Note: changing them does little to nothing to impact performance

I have captured 180 seconds of gameplay on the 6044 driver (decent performance) as well as the latest 6651 driver (horrible performance)

I have also captured my system specs with SSU and will share them all once you provide an email.

CapX never made a configuration folder, however, I did make the rest of the requested changes to the application.

Hey Dhanniel ,

I've replied to you email and provided the SSU and CapX captures. Hoping this leads to better driver improvements for the Intel Arc cards.

Thank you

Hi Samuryan,

Thank you for sending the logs and files. Upon review, it seems the recorded playtime for CapframeX is quite brief. Could I ask you to run it again, this time recording for about 5 to 10 minutes? This will help capture more accurate and comprehensive data. You can just send the files here on the thread.

Hi Dhanniel,

I've already spent quite a few hours collecting information for this thread, so unfortunately I'm not going to be able to provide anything further. I'd ask that Intel test this on their side, as many customers with ARC graphics cards are having the exact same issue.

Thank you

Hey everyone,

I've just installed the latest driver 32.0.101.6732 (2nd of April i think).

The patch notes for this driver do not mention MHW at all... HOWEVER, When i launched monster hunter back up there has been a considerable improvement in FPS... now its maybe not quite where it should be... but it is a night and day difference. im now hitting anywhere between 45 - 60 FPS in places where before i was mid to high 20's.

This driver appears to make the game playable. Can anyone else confirm?

ARC A770.

MHW now happy running at:

High preset @ 1440p

FSR + FG On
