Serious performance issues with ARC B580

I am an ordinary gamer from China. I recently bought an Intel B580 graphics card, which is used with AMD 3700X, 32G D4 3200, Win11 Pro 24H2, and 2k180hz monitor. During the process, I found some very strange performance problems:

Some games perform normally, which is in line with the performance level of B580 at 2K resolution, such as GTA5 Enhanced Edition (80~110fps at the highest quality) and Rise of the Tomb Raider (110fps at the highest quality).

Some games perform very poorly, such as CS2, which can only run at 20~30fps (20fps under vulkan, 30fps under DX11, both at the highest and lowest quality). There is also PUBG, which also has only 30~40fps under DX11&DX12.

There are also some games that have very strange facts: For example, Battlefield 2042, when I first switched to B580 from RTX 2060, the game only had 35~45fps. After closing and opening the game several times, the game returned to normal performance (about 70~100fps at ultra-high quality). I played it for a few days at normal performance, the last time was at 1am today. When I opened the game at noon today, the game became the same as at the beginning, only about 40fps, which is very strange. In fact, CS2's performance recovered a lot for a while yesterday, reaching 70~90fps (though it is also low), and then it returned to 30fps when I played it again.

There seems to be a mysterious force limiting my GPU, but I don't know who it is...I have cleared all the graphics card drivers with DDU and reinstalled them, moreover I also tried plugging and unplugging the memory, updating all the drivers that can be updated, but the problem still exists. I have previously updated the motherboard BIOS to the latest version and enabled Resizable BAR. I would like to ask you about possible solutions.

Looking forward to your reply.

hey mate there could be several factors contributing to the performance inconsistencies. Let me outline a few steps. Given that your performance fluctuates in different games (e.g., Battlefield 2042 and CS2), it’s possible that your GPU or CPU might be experiencing thermal throttling under load. When the GPU or CPU reaches high temperatures, it will automatically reduce performance to avoid overheating. For temperatures monitoring, you can use tools like HWMonitor or MSI Afterburner Make sure your PC has proper airflow and cooling, especially if you're gaming for extended periods.

For power management:

  1. Go to Control Panel > Power Options and set your power plan to High Performance.
  2. Check if the GPU’s power settings are set to prioritize performance in the Intel Arc Control Center (or similar software for your GPU).

Some games, like CS2 and PUBG, appear to be running poorly with Vulkan and DX12, but running fine on DX11. Try switching the game’s graphics API in the game settings to see if it improves performance (e.g., from Vulkan to DX11 or DX12 to Vulkan). Make sure you’re using the latest drivers for your Intel Arc B580 (32.0.101.6647). Sometimes, older driver versions may have issues with specific APIs. You said updating the drivers and motherboard BIOS, which is great. However, there could still be underlying driver conflicts or system optimizations that might not be fully addressed. Reinstall the GPU drivers again after completely cleaning the system with Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU), especially if you haven't done this since trying a different driver version. Sometimes remnants of old drivers can cause conflicts.

I suspect It's possible that your CPU, RAM, or other system components might be bottlenecking the GPU performance, especially in more demanding games. If these steps don't help, it might be beneficial to run a benchmark tool like 3DMark or Unigine Heaven to see if the performance is consistent across tests
