I have an AOC G2590FX monitor and it no longer recognized as supporting Variable Refresh Rate. Simultaneously, Dynamic refresh rate is no longer available in Windows Settings. This appears to be a driver issue as rolling back to older versions brings back VRR and DRR.
Other things I have tried:
- Using DDU to uninstall drivers before installing latest drivers.
- Trying a better DisplayPort (2.1) cable.
Things I have not tried:
- Installing newer non-WHQL drivers.
Computer Information:
- Monitor: AOC G2590FX
- GPU: Intel Arc A770 Limited Edition 16GB
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
- Motherboard: ASUS PRIME B550-PLUS AC-HES
- BIOS Version: 3607 (2024/04/04)
- System Memory: 32 GB
- Operating System: Windows 11 Pro for Workstations 24H2 (OS Build 26100.3775)
GPU Driver: 32.0.101.6651
- Variable Refresh Rate: 30Hz - 146Hz
GPU Driver: 32.0.101.6734
- Variable Refresh Rate: Not Supported
GPU Driver: 32.0.101.6737
- Variable Refresh Rate: Not Supported
For now, I'll stick with version 32.0.101.6651 since there's nothing specific I need in the latest driver versions. I just wanted to post this in case this wasn't a known issue.

Status Update: I installed the new 32.0.101.6739 driver to see if that fixed it. Variable Refresh Rate is also listed as "Not Supported".

Hello AimlessBot,
Here's an update on your request:
We tested VRR with our latest drivers across a variety of displays available in the market and did not encounter the same issue, indicating a potential compatibility problem with the specific monitor model, AOC G2590FX. I want to set your expectations appropriately, as this issue may not be prioritized by the driver development team soon, given that resources are currently focused on addressing critical issues affecting the majority of users.
To assist further in our investigation, could you please provide the following information:
- How are you connecting the monitor? Is it via DisplayPort or HDMI?
- Are you using any adapters or converters?
I look forward to your response.
Best regards,
JeanetteC.

Hi JeanetteC,
Thank you for getting back to me.
My monitor is connected via a DisplayPort cable without any adapters or converters. The cable I normally use is rated as DisplayPort 1.4 but I also tried a DisplayPort 2.1 cable while trouble-shooting it. Sadly, changing cables did not have any effect.
In case it matters, I also have two other non-VRR monitors that are also connected via DisplayPort. Disconnecting these monitors does not appear to have any impact on VRR detection for the primary monitor. Meanwhile the HDMI port on the Arc A770 is never used.
As a side question, is there a repository of older drivers publicly available? I rolled my drivers back to 32.0.101.6651 because they are the newest working WHQL drivers (as time of posting) on The Download Page. From the numbering, I'm guessing they are on the older side? I would find and report a more precise version where VRR stopped working if more driver versions are available.
Best of luck,
AimlessBot.

Hello AimlessBot,
Please be informed that we attempted to replicate the issue, but we do not have the exact monitor model G2590FX. However, we successfully tested with other AOC monitors.
If possible, please gather an ETL file (instructions are attached).
Additionally, collect the EDID data using an IGCC report.
- To generate IGCC report for EDID analysis, please follow the steps below:
- If IGCC is not yet install on the Windows system, download and install the "Intel® Graphics Command Center" from the Microsoft Store.
- Once installed, launch the Intel® Graphics Command Center (IGCC) software.
- On the left side of the app, click on "Support" and then on top click "System Diagnostic"
- To the right, click on "Generate Report" and you will be prompted to save it as a txt file.
- Save the report which can be used for analysis.
I hope to hear from you soon.
Best regards,
JeanetteC.

Hello AimlessBot,
I've already received the detailed report. Please go ahead and generate the ETL file. There's no need to create another report using the last known working version. I'll be waiting for the file to continue with the investigation of this issue. Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
