a380 Sleep Hang problem only with programs open

Wanted to let users and developers know that I do not have a problem coming out of sleep with my ASROCK a380 (Drivers 31.0.101.4146)  if I have no other programs running besides McAfee Antivirus.     Computer _Dell XPS 8940 10th gen i5 (UHD630 igpu with latest drivers 31.0.101.2115) Windows 21H2.     Same with or without ARC Control running.  But if I have Edge or other programs full screen or minimized on task bar the computer will hang on black screen coming out of sleep mode.  Resizeable bar is active and I have pci-express Link State Power Management turned off in power profile. Hope this helps in some way.  Could it be tied to Link State Power Management?  Or Desktop Window Manager?  I did notice in Task Manager that after installing the ARC card that my Windows Explorer memory useage went up (doubled) from always less than 100MB to around 190MB now.  Desktop Window Manager dropped from from 80MB to 50MB, single HD monitor.  No Sleep or No open Programs is my workaround for now

Hello CraigAV

Thank you for posting on the Intel® ARC™ Graphics. I am sorry that you are experiencing issues when trying to wake your system from sleep.

There is already a known issue with systems experiencing issues when trying to wake up from sleep mode, as outlined in our driver release notes:

"System may hang while waking up from sleep. May need to power cycle the system for recovery."

We can check if this might be the same behavior or if it might be a different one, please let us know the following:

Test the system using only the integrated GPU you can remove the ARC GPU from the PCIE slot or disable it from the device manager:

  • Open Device Manager
  • Go to display adapters > Intel® Arc™ A380 Graphics
  • Double click on Intel® Arc™ A380 Graphics
  • Go to the Driver Tab > Disable Device

Also, create a log file with the Intel® System Support Utility and attach it.

Best Regards,

Hi Hugo.  Since I posted this info I am happy to report that my system is waking up from sleep the last few days with programs running.  Installed .4255 exe and rolled back Arc graphics driver to .4146 in device manager.  Go ahead and close out this post.

Thanks
