After updating to driver 32.0.101.8629 on A770 these games (all i've tried) will no longer boot normally.
however if forced via steam startup command to boot into dx11 with "-dx11" command the games can start and function, but with severely lower performance than dx12.

Black Myth Wukong
Forza horizon 5
Helldivers 2
Darktide
Sea of Thieves
R6 Siege

Before driver update 32.0.101.8629 these all worked flawlessly.

I've tried DDU'ing and getting months old drivers that i know worked, such as driver 32.0.101.8531 However due to the firmware update that 32.0.101.8629 brough the problems still persist.

Attached SSU file if that could help in any way.

Hello coughingbell,

Thank you for posting on the Intel Community Forum and for sharing a detailed description of the issue along with the SSU file.

To assist you further kindly help us with the below details:

  • could you please share a short video showing the exact issue you are experiencing?
  • When you mention that the games are not booting normally, could you clarify if you are encountering any error messages, a black screen, or if the game crashes during launch?
  • A detailed description along with the video will help us better understand the issue.

Additionally, we would like to clarify the DirectX support for the games you mentioned:

  • Black Myth: Wukong → DX12 only (no DX11 support)
  • Forza Horizon 5 → DX12 only
  • Helldivers 2 → DX12 only
  • Warhammer 40,000: Darktide → DX12 only
  • Sea of Thieves → Supports both DX11 and DX12
  • Rainbow Six Siege → Supports both DX11 and DX12

Since most of these titles are designed to run on DirectX 12, forcing them to run in DirectX 11 (where applicable) or switching between DirectX modes can result in reduced performance and inconsistent behavior.

Once we receive these details, we will review the case and provide appropriate next steps.

Hello coughingbell,

I hope you are doing well.

I am following up on my previous message regarding the game launch issue you reported. Kindly let us know if you were able to check the behavior again.

As requested earlier, please share a short video of the issue if it is still occurring. Additionally, it would be helpful if you could clarify whether you are seeing any error messages, black screen, or crashes during launch.

We also want to reiterate that most of the affected titles (such as Black Myth: Wukong, Forza Horizon 5, Helldivers 2, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, Sea of Thieves, and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege) primarily run on DirectX 12, and switching DirectX modes may impact stability or performance.

Once we receive the additional details or video, we will be able to proceed with further investigation and provide the next steps accordingly.

Looking forward to your update.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Best Regards,

commandline: "D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Apex Legends\r5apex_dx12.exe" -steam -game R2
title: Fatal Error - Engine Error
error: [DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED] : 0x887A0006 - DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG The application's device failed due to badly formed commands sent by the application. This is an design-time issue that should be investigated and fixed.
