Error fixes and stability improvements for DirectX 12 12

Good morning, I need you to discuss internally the issue of fixing DirectX 12 D3D12. Let's see if you can fix the RDR2 problem. Do you remember that when I set D3D12 or DirectX 12 to 170Hz, it only applies 48Hz? Well, you need to fix that eventually and also improve performance. You must deliver on the performance that, according to the Intel Arc presentation, performs well with a modern dual API. For example, there are many games that don't run well and have low performance.

So please wake up and improve for once, and mature the drivers because they're very, very underdeveloped.

And from now on, I'm going to be concerned, since the engineers aren't doing their job, and optimizing and improving the most popular things is the last thing on their minds. Now I have to focus on my own work, that is, the reports we have pending.

Thank you, Regards
David

Hello addelucas123,

Thank you for posting on Intel Community Forum and sharing your feedback. We understand your concerns regarding DirectX 12 performance and the behavior you’re experiencing, particularly with refresh rate handling in RDR2.

To help us investigate this further, could you please provide some additional details:

  • Which Intel® Graphics driver version are you currently using?
  • What is your display configuration (monitor model, resolution, and refresh rate)?
  • Are you using fullscreen, borderless, or windowed mode in RDR2?
  • Does the refresh rate drop to 48Hz only in DirectX 12, or do you observe similar behavior in Vulkan as well?
  • Have you tried changing the refresh rate directly from Windows display settings does the issue persist there?
  • Are any features like V-Sync, G-Sync/FreeSync, or frame limiters enabled?
  • Have you performed a clean driver installation using DDU?
  • Can you confirm if the issue occurs consistently or only under specific scenarios ?

These details will help us better isolate the issue and assist you more effectively.

To assist you further, I kindly request you to provide the following detail:

SSU (System Support Utility) report

You can download the SSU tool using the link below:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000057926/memory-and-storage.html

Please note: While generating the SSU report, kindly uncheck the “Networking” option.

Thank you once again for your cooperation and understanding.

Best Regards,

Good evening, dear Intel, I'm very tired of this. I need a report now, or to know if you're going to fix this or never, but please tell me the truth and don't lie,  As you can see, I've already tried the steps you gave me a thousand different ways, but nothing has changed. When I increase the refresh rate to 170Hz, it only applies 48Hz. And if I apply 48Hz, I only get 50 FPS. Intel promised double performance, but that's not the case.

Which Intel® Graphics driver version are you currently using? 32.0.101.8626

What is your display configuration (monitor model, resolution, and refresh rate)? Model

27M1N5500ZA ,  Native frequency 170Hz , resolution 2560x1440p 2K Quad HD

Are you using fullscreen, borderless, or windowed mode in RDR2? I've tried full screen and borderless full screen; if I apply 170Hz, it applies 48Hz.

Does the refresh rate drop to 48Hz only in DirectX 12, or do you observe similar behavior in Vulkan as well? DirectX 12 only

Have you tried changing the refresh rate directly from Windows display settings does the issue persist there? Yes

Are any features like V-Sync, G-Sync/FreeSync, or frame limiters enabled? disabled

Have you performed a clean driver installation using DDU? Yes

Can you confirm if the issue occurs consistently or only under specific scenarios?consequently

Hello addelucas123,

Thank you for your detailed response and for providing all the relevant information about your setup and the steps you’ve already taken.

We completely understand how frustrating it must be to encounter this behavior, especially after investing so much effort to troubleshoot it on your own. We want to assure you that your feedback is important, and we take this issue seriously. To provide an accurate assessment and a potential resolution, we will need some time to thoroughly investigate the behavior you are experiencing with DirectX 12.

We are reviewing your case, and we will update you as soon as we have findings or further guidance. We appreciate your patience while we work on this.

Thank you again for your cooperation and for providing such detailed information, it greatly helps us in diagnosing the problem.

Good evening, you always say the same thing and then you don't do it, and the Intel driver engineers must know about this problem. Please tell me if you're really going to do it or not, but if you are going to do it, I need to see that fix in the release notes and have it say "Red Dead Redemption 2 has improved stability and performance" and "another experiment." When I see that, then I'll believe it; until then, I don't.

Hello addelucas123

Thank you for your patience as we've been investigating your graphics driver issue, particularly the refresh rate problems you're experiencing during gameplay.

Based on your detailed description and our technical analysis, we've identified that this issue is related to refresh rate handling in certain games. We have a targeted solution that should resolve the freezes and stutters you've been experiencing.

We recommend switching your game to use the Vulkan API instead of DirectX. Here's why this will help:

  • Vulkan API provides better refresh rate stability with Intel graphics
  • It offers improved performance and reduced stuttering in many modern games
  • This change specifically addresses the type of freezes you've described during combat scenarios

How to Switch to Vulkan API:

  1. Launch your game
  2. Go to Graphics/Video Settings
  3. Look for "Graphics API" or "Rendering API" option
  4. Select "Vulkan" instead of "DirectX"
  5. Restart the game to apply changes

Please try this solution and let us know how it works for you. If you need any assistance locating the Vulkan option in your specific game or encounter any issues, we're here to help.

We appreciate your detailed feedback throughout this process - it helps us provide better solutions for all our users.

Good afternoon, if Vulkan is on a position, but I want to know when you're going to fix that problem and improve RDR2 performance and stability?, because D3D12 is supposed to go twice as high as 90 to 100 FPS with peak 105 FPS 2K, tell me when you're going to do it or never or what happens here, tell him when, because if he's going to be like this 5 years old he's not interested

Hello addelucas123,

I would like to inform you that this solution is supported only when using the Vulkan API. At this time, other APIs are not supported for this particular fix. Therefore, we recommend continuing to use the Vulkan API to ensure the issue is resolved and to achieve optimal performance.

Also, you can refer to the below article of When in Full Screen Red Dead Redemption 2* Drops to 1 Frame per Second (FPS) on Intel® Arc™ Graphics for your reference:

Hello addelucas123,

I hope you are doing well.

This is a follow-up regarding the information shared earlier about the issue on Intel® Arc™ Graphics using Red Dead Redemption 2.

As previously mentioned, the workaround is supported only with the Vulkan API, and we recommend continuing with this configuration for optimal results.

Since we have not received any further update from your end, we will proceed with closing this thread for now.

If the issue persists or if you need further assistance in the future, please feel free to reach out again by creating a new support request. We will be glad to assist you.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
