Intel Arc B580 - Constant Device Connect/Disconnect Loop on Drivers 8801/8824 during Monitor Sleep

Hello Intel Community / Support Team,
I am experiencing an issue with my Intel Arc B580 graphics card when my monitors go to sleep/power-saving mode.

The Issue:
When Windows turns off the screens to save power, the system enters an endless loop of "Device Connect" and "Device Disconnect" Windows sound chimes.
Additionally, when I wake the screens back up, Windows does not remember where my open programs were located. It moves all open application windows onto my main screen (Monitor #1), leaving the second screen clear.

Driver Information:
  • This behavior occurs on driver versions 32.0.101.8801 WHQL and 32.0.101.8824. Both versions display this exact issue.
  • I am not sure if older driver versions had this issue, as I am currently using these releases.

System Specifications:
  • GPU: Intel Arc B580
  • Drivers Tested: 32.0.101.8801 WHQL / 32.0.101.8824
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600
  • Motherboard: MSI MPG X570 Gaming Pro Carbon WiFi (BIOS Version: 1.Q1)
  • RAM: 24GB

Monitor & Connection Configurations (Dual Setup):
  • Monitor #1: 1920x1080 connected via DisplayPort
  • Monitor #2: 1680x1050 connected via HDMI
I am an ordinary user rather than a technician, so I have not attempted any advanced troubleshooting steps. The behavior seems related to how the driver handles the screen connection handshake during power-saving mode, and I wanted to report it here so the engineering team is aware.
(Note: English is not my native language, and I used an AI assistant to help me clearly structure and format this post).
Thank you for your time and for looking into this report!

Hi musmiwhb,

Thanks for reaching out about the device connect/disconnect loop issue you're experiencing with your Intel Arc B580.

I appreciate you providing such detailed information about your setup and the specific driver versions where this occurs.

To help us investigate this further, I'd like to gather some additional information:

  • Is this working before? Any recent changes before it occurs?
  • When did you first notice this issue starting? Was it immediately after installing the Arc B580 or after a specific driver update?
  • Does this happen with both monitors going to sleep, or can you isolate it to one specific monitor?
  • Have you tried different power management settings in Windows (like changing when displays turn off)?
  • Are you using any third-party monitor management software?
  • Do you happen to remember which driver version was working properly before this issue started occurring?
  • May I know the exact make, model and wattage of your PSU?
  • Could you provide photos or a short video showing the issue when it occurs? This would really help our team understand the behavior.
  • May I know what troubleshooting steps have you done?
  • Please also provide your SSU (System Support Utility) logs so we can analyze your complete system configuration.
  1. Download Intel® System Support Utility from Intel's website
  2. Run SSU.exe as administrator
  3. Check "Everything" and click "Scan"
  4. When complete, click "Next" then "Save"
  5. Share the saved file with us

This information will help us get a better picture of what's happening and potentially identify a solution or workaround.

Thanks for taking the time to report this - detailed feedback like yours really helps us improve our drivers!

Best regards

Jonzyl B.
