Intel UHD (i9-13980HX): aspect ratio bug for 16:9 res on 16:10 screen

ASPECT RATIO BUG FOR 16:9 RES ON 16:10 SCREEN
Broken screen proportions (vertically stretched) when switching laptop screen from 2560x1600 (16:10) to 2560x1440 (16:9) with Windows 11 25H2 (26200.7019).
Advanced Optimus laptop screen.

Not sure when it started (Intel updates, Win 11 25H2?) but before the screen was correctly adding horizontal black bars (top and bottom) to keep correct 16:9 resolutions aspect ratio on a 16:10 screen.

Repro-steps:

  • in Windows 11 25H2, temporarily switch from native 2560x1600 (16:10) to 2560x1440 (16:9) screen res.

Results: you'll notice ugly vertically stretched proportions filling all visible area on the screen and no expected horizontal top/bottom black bars to keep the correct aspect ratio instead.

(System details generated by Intel Graphics control panel attached).

May I suggest to enable ALL screen scaling mode options independently from current screen resolution?

Other control panels like NVidia's allow to change Global Screen Scaling in any resolution. ATM instead Intel Graphics Command Center will expose those global options (Maintain Aspect Ratio, Stretch, Center Image) only if current screen resolution uses a non-native aspect ratio. This can disorient users, looking for Scale options even when in native resolution mode.

Hi hexaae,

Thanks for your patience! I’d like to ask a few quick questions regarding your request:

  • Are you hoping to see this feature added only to the Intel Graphics Command Center (IGCC), or would you also like it included in the Intel Graphics Software (IGS)?
  • Could you share why this feature is important to you and how it would help with your setup or experience?

If you have any other questions or need help with anything else, feel free to reach out. I’m here to support you.

- To the Intel Graphics Command Center:

- Will help users change the (global) Screen Scaling settings easily while you're using a native resolution (that normally won't offer other Scale options, until you change desktop resolution to non-native)
