Hi DLX2017,

Thank you for posting in our Community and for taking the time to outline your setup so clearly. Don’t worry, we’ll get to the bottom of this. Our latest Intel® Arc Graphics Driver 32.0.101.8247 is digitally signed and verified, so the Norton alert is most likely a false positive rather than an actual threat. Sometimes, antivirus programs temporarily flag new driver releases until their databases update.

To help me verify this further, could you please confirm the following details?

  1. What exact message or alert does Norton display when it blocks PowerShell.exe? Does it quarantine any files, or only halt the installation?

  2. Have you already tried temporarily disabling Norton’s Auto-Protect feature or adding the installer to its exclusions list before attempting the driver installation again?

  3. Did you download the driver directly from Intel’s official Download Center or through the Intel® Driver & Support Assistant (IDSA)?

  4. After Norton halts the process, does the installation partially complete, or does it stop entirely before any driver components are installed?

  5. If you've performed any other tests, please provide the details so we can avoid going over the same steps again.

Have a nice day!

Best regards,

Hi VonM_Intel

It just unzipps and crashes on both systems. Disabling Nortons has no effect and I have used the Intel driver support assistant and downloaded the driver from Intels website.

This is a false positive from Norton’s IDP heuristic engine. Temporarily disable Norton Auto-Protect or add PowerShell.exe and the Intel driver installer to Norton’s exceptions list during installation. After updating, re-enable protection—Intel drivers are safe when downloaded from official sources.

Hi, VonM_Intel,

Having same issue here. Trying to install graphic driver update in a HP with Intel Ultra 7155H. Norton blocks with the error message:

intel.jpg

Installation attempted with "Intel Driver & Support Assistant", which fails with the error:

Disabling Norton's Auto Protect is not a workaround. It seems that it does not relax Behavioral Protection.

Next is the Norton report on this error:

I was able to get the driver installed on both computers.

I was making the mistake of disabling Norton auto-protect from the task bar.

I found out if you open Nortons UI and switch the auto-protect off, it just grays out everything below it in the On position.

The driver would fail to load.

Solution:

With auto-protect on, switch the five recominded switches below it off, then switch auto-potect off.

The driver should load properley.

Remember to enable the switches you turned off.

Same exact issue.  Trying turning off all the features in the Anti-Virus screen first, then turn off Auto Protect didn't work for me.  Install was still blocked.  Threat.png

I followed DLX2017 workaround, disabling auto-protect from Norton UI, instead of from Task Bar and was able to update the driver.

I also found out that there no need to turn off all switches, just the "Behavioral Protecion".

I will open a ticket with Norton as well, as it seems to be a false positive from Norton.

Thanks all.
