Performance issues with new drivers 32.0.101.6557 and 6559 for arc gpu (a750)

I own an  i5 - 13400 cpu based desktop equiped with an Asrock intel arc a750 gpu on a Gigabyte B760M DSH DDR4 motherboard (igpu has been disabled from the bios). The system runs windows 11 with all latest updates. Motherboard firmware and updates are the latest available also. Since I do regular updates on the intel graphics driver to ensure the best performance and combatibility with apps and games I usually install new driver updates as soon as they are released.

I didn't have any problems/issues until the 6460 driver.  However, after the latest driver updates  (32.0.101.6557 and 6559 which is WHQL also) I determined that the performance of the card seems to have been deteriorate heavily in DX9 (a decrease of about 20% in framerates from ~210 fps to ~170 fps in my case ) and somewhat less in DX11 (a decrease of about 5-10% from ~95 fps to ~85-90 fps in my case).

My observation is based on passmark's 3d benchmark. I have made several tests and the problem is apparent. Other passmark 3D benchmark tests (such as DX10, DX12 and gpu compute) have not been affected at all. Note that those benchmark results I mention, are always executed WITHOUT any performance tuning on the gpu through the intel graphics software (which is also a bit buggy in those 2 latest 6557 and 6559 driver packages but I will elaborate on it on another thread) for both old and new drivers.

I have tried both to clean install the new drivers and also fully remove of old one (6460) using ddu before installing the new ones from scratch but the problem persists and this is the case for both 6557 and 6559 versions. The latest driver without this issue is the 6460.

Since we are not talking for 1-2 % percent fluncuations between benchmarking before and after the new drivers but for a 10%-20% deterioration in fps which is not insignificant I suggest you should investigate it and provide a viable solution. After all releasing new drivers should always serve the purpose of making performance better not deteriorating it.

Hi iprigg,

Thank you for posting in the communities!

I appreciate you sharing this issue with us, no worries, I will further look into this and provide you an insight.

While waiting, kindly run this on your system so that I can also gauge the following peripherals and the driver versions that you have: Intel® System Support Utility for Windows*

Once finished downloading, open the tool, click on scan (leave the default items checked), click next, then save the system information to a .txt file. Please provide us the .txt file.

Hi Earl,

Please find attached the requested info. Note that I have re-installed the previous driver 6460,  removing those, that degraded the performance. So this is what you will see in this file, regarding the arc a750 driver version. Rest information about other drivers and hardware info is the same used when 32.0.101.6557 and 6559 were installed.

Both drivers arent good. Ive a B580 and performance issues with those drivers. Ive installed Version 6257 and get up to 50% higher fps in Games!

Deinstall the drivers with DDU and try the older one!

I am using A750, and there is not much difference in game performance (I did not perceive the change), but the entire system has noticeably become slower. After installing the old version driver, it has returned to normal, but the control center has disappeared. Even if the latest driver is reinstalled, the control center will not appear...

This is How i did it :

-Downloading the newest DDU and the Driver

-Deactivate Network

-Deinstall the Driver with DDU

-Restart and Install the Driver

-Restart and activate Network

And yes i noticed it too, the new Drivers are slowing down the whole System.

谢谢,控制中心已恢复正常。我之前无法成功安装它,可能是因为 DDU 不是最新版本或网络没有断开连接

Hi iprigg,

I appreciate your effort for providing this, we have released a new driver, and I suggest trying this version 32.0.101.6632. Intel® Arc™ & Iris® Xe Graphics - Windows*. Let me know if there are improvements as well.

Hi Dean,

Unfortunately the issue with the performance in DX9 nad DX11 remains with the new driver also.
