Using Sharpening on various places

Hello, i'd like to see the sharpening section in IGS (in video settings) to be also effective on Youtube,Twitch or let's say browser videos. In fact i'd like to say i want a sharpening filter that effects the whole screen but not from game to game or video player to video player i want somethijng that effects the whole screen when turned on. When it is on, it becomes visible on desktop youtube, or even on our games. Almost like a image or video sharpening but it is a general sharpening filter effects your whole monitor no matter what is running. Like a new setting. Why this should be a "thing"?. So sharpening has removed from igs because it was not working. the sharpening filter on igcc is also a little confusing since some games don't support it. The sharpening in video settings is also only working on windows videos. For example if i want to watch a video from netflix or youtube i have to watch it in bad quality. XeSS 2.1 is being a little blurry but in reality it has a lot more capacity with a sharpening filter for us gamers. While some games offer sharpening settings of fsr or xess not all of them do this. And XeSS 1 games are far worse. A sharpening filter shows things in a better quality. You're playing a game in 1080p but want a better quality like 1440p? Sharpening comes to playground and when you open it lets say you set it to %40 it makes the game look far better. You're watching a video and even tho opera gx offers some nice sharpening option for videos and images it is not working on everything. You want to watch a video the owner has only put 1080p and not 2k? You just enable sharpening. What kind of sharpening am i recommending? You guys can just add the same sharpening algorithm you used on old intel iGpu drivers. Or could just add the same sharpening on video but on everything? Please don't let us down with such a nice feature. Thank you.

Hello again @CrilAR,

I just wanted to follow up on your suggestion and thank you once more for taking the time to share such thoughtful feedback with us. Conversations like this genuinely help us understand what matters most to our users in real-world scenarios—especially when it comes to everyday experiences like streaming and gaming.

I completely understand the appeal of having a simple, system-wide sharpening option that works seamlessly across browsers, media, and games. It’s the kind of feature that can make a noticeable difference without requiring per-app tweaks, and your perspective highlights that really well.

While this isn’t something currently available in our latest graphics software, please rest assured that your feedback has been noted and shared with the relevant teams for consideration. Input like yours plays an important role in shaping future improvements.

In the meantime, if you happen to explore any alternative methods or tools that work well for your setup, feel free to share them here, we’d love to hear about your experience and it could help others in the community too.

Thanks again for being such an engaged member of the Intel community. Don’t hesitate to reach out if there’s anything else on your mind!

Warm regards,

Hello @CrilAR !

Thank you so much for reaching out and for sharing such a detailed and thoughtful suggestion. We truly appreciate the passion you have for getting the best possible visual experience out of your Intel hardware!

It’s clear that you’re looking for a more "universal" way to enhance clarity, especially when streaming videos on YouTube or Twitch and when playing games where built-in upscaling might feel a bit soft. Your feedback about wanting a "one-stop-shop" for sharpening that affects the entire screen is incredibly valuable.

To keep you updated on our current software capabilities, I wanted to provide some important context regarding these settings:

  • Feature Update: As discussed in our community thread, please be informed that Image Sharpening (along with Adaptive Tessellation and Anisotropic Filtering) has been discontinued. This change began with Intel Graphics Software version 25.22.1502.2, included in driver 32.0.101.6913.
  • Official Documentation: From that version onward, these specific features are no longer available in the software. You can find the full details regarding this change on our official support page here: Intel® Graphics Software (IGS) Image Sharpener, Adaptive Tesselation,....

While a "global" filter that covers the entire desktop and browser is not currently a feature of our latest drivers, please know that we acknowledge you.

We are always working to refine the Intel Arc and Iris experience, and I will be sure to pass your feedback regarding browser-based sharpening and XeSS 2.1 clarity along to the team.

Thank you for being such an active and helpful part of our community! Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Warm regards,
