Disable CPU frequency on DevCloud Xeon Nodes

Hi all,

I am wondering whether it is possible to set the CPU frequency to it base frequency while benchmarking on the Xeon Nodes of the Intel DevCloud?

Is there a flag I can pass to qsub to achieve this, like `--cpufreq` as used with micctrl for XeonPhi?

Because on the node itself I won't have enough permissions to change the configuration.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find an exhaustive documentation of qsub.

Thank you very much.

Best regatds,

RR

Hi,

Thank you for posting in Intel Communities.

Could you please let us know which DevCloud (DevCloud for oneAPI/DevCloud for Edge) you are using?

Thanks

Hi,

I am using DevCloud oneAPI. I specifically want to run some benchmarks on the ICX Xeon nodes, because I am interested in testing some optimisations regarding AVX512 VBMI and compare this to AVX2 and SSE4.

Please let me know if you need more information.

Many thanks and best regards,

RR

Hi,

Thanks for the details. For your information, current Terms and Conditions of using DevCloud do not allow benchmarking or publishing any related results.

For more information on the Terms & Conditions of DevCloud usage refer https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/legal/terms-of-use.html , Section 9.2 prohibits publishing performance benchmarks.

If you have any further issue, please let us know.

Thanks

Thank you very much for referring to this.

Regarding the benchmarking, I'd like to point out, that I am doing these evaluation as member of the IPCC (Intel Parallel Computing Centre) FU Berlin, and I was explicitly forwarded to use the DevCloud for these experiments.

Is there maybe another way to get access to ICX as IPCC member?

And in any way, does there exist the possibility to disable frequency scaling from the user perspective in general (just a yes/no answer )?

Thank you very much for your support.

Hi,

Since DevCloud is a worldwide resource, we will not be able to disable features requested as it may affect other users.

Best solution is to ask for a baremetal ICX to do experiments here :

https://Cloud.intel.com

Hope this helps. If you have any further issue, please let us know.

Thanks

Hi, I am sorry for not responding sooner.
I was in the middle of some deadlines and must have overseen your response.

I will ask for access for a baremetal ICX, as you suggested.

Many thanks for pointing this out to me and for your great assistance.

Best regards,

RR
