@ hedley Can you please provide more information regarding your system (virtual machine, Raspberry pi, running 16.04 natively)?

I was trying to use with Ubuntu 16 04 running on latest virtual box . The problem appears to be Gstreamer not working on virtual box ?. I then got a new machine loaded Ubuntu on bare metal and everything works as per install instructions . It would be good to be able to use on a VM so dedicated hardware not required.

I have the same problem: Intel 64 VirtualBox with Ubuntu 16.04. (1.10 sdk)
Running stream_infer examples: the app window opens and crashes using usb camera (any special settings?) & NC. I have added the two USB 3.0 filters as mention in sdk doc and I am able to compile run examples (make examples should be updated to bypass the net that are known to not be compiled on the Rpi3).
