X_LINK_DEVICE_NOT_FOUND on Myriad X mini-PCIe / DLDT (OpenVINO) / CPU Armv7l (i.MX6) / Ubuntu

I try to install OpenVINO on:

  • CPU Armv7l (i.MX6 Quad Core 1 ARM Cortex-A9)
  • Ubuntu 14.04 TLS 32-bit
  • Myriad X VPU mini-PCIe

I followed all the steps from this manual: https://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/ARM-sbc-and-NCS2

Including: Configure the Intel® NCS 2 Linux* USB Driver

But when I run

./perfcheck -m ./frozen_tiny_yolo_v3.xml -d MYRIAD

I get this error:

How to solve this issue?

And what should I check?

Dear Alexey,

Sounds like a driver issue (the NCS driver is not found). Is there any reason you're using Ubuntu 14.04 TLS 32-bit ? Ubuntu 16.04 LTS 64-bit is the OpenVino recommended Ubuntu, although Ubuntu 18 is also supported now.

The solution to your problem may be similar to what Jesus recommends in this IDZ forum post since you are also using a non-standard Ubuntu version.

Thanks,

Shubha

Hi Shubha,

Thanks, but it doesn't help.

I use Ubuntu 16.04 32-bit because I have CPU Armv7l 32-bit

What OS do you recommend to use on CPU Armv7l 32-bit (i.MX6) ?

Or how can I install NCS driver on Ubuntu 16.04 32-bit Armv7l ?

Dear Alexey

So you are using CPU Armv7l 32-bit as a host ? Unfortunately, OpenVino does not support 32-bit OS. Sorry about that. We used to over 2 years ago, but not anymore.

Thanks,

Shubha

Thanks!

But it says here that, this instrictions are written for 32-bit OS - June 19, 2019:

Arm7* Single Board Computers and the Intel® Neural Compute Stick 2 (Intel® NCS 2)

By Neal Smith, Herrold, Andrew, published on June 19, 2019

Note: These instructions are written for the Orange pi PC Plus (http://www.orangepi.org/orangepipcplus/, but steps should be similar with other ARMv7 setups if your environment is using a 32-bit operating system. These steps have been verified with the following boards: Orange pi PC Plus, ASUS* Tinkerboard S.

Dear Alexey,

Oops. My mistake. Raspbian is in fact a 32-bit OS according to OpenVino Raspbian install doc .  Raspbian is not the same as Ubuntu though. Is there any reason you're not choosing Raspbian ? What exactly is your host device  ? Is it a Raspberry Pi board ?

Thanks,

Shubha

Hi Shubha!

I use other OS because there is written that I can use any 32-bit operating system https://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/ARM-sbc-and-NCS2

Why I can't use Ubuntu 32-bit with Armv7l 32-bit for Myriad X VPU via mini-PCIe?

Should I use Rspbian OS for any Arm 32-bit CPU, even if I don't use Hardware Raspberry Pi?

Dear Alexey,

What board houses this CPU Armv7l (i.MX6 Quad Core 1 ARM Cortex-A9) ? So it's not a Raspberry PI, but what is it then ?

Looking forward to your reply,

Shubha

I install OpenVINO for rapibian on:

balenaFin(https://store.balena.io/collections/frontpage/products/balenafin-v1-1-0-8gb)

Myriad X VPU mini-PCIe(https://www.aaeon.com/en/p/ai-edge-computing-board-ai-core-x)

but I get it https://imgur.com/JxMOAB0
