How do I configure the Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro software to use an Intel Enpirion® EM22x device as

Intel® Enpirion® EM2260 / EM22xx parts can be used as Power Management Controllers for SmartVID enabled variants of Intel Stratix® 10 devices. Follow the instructions below to configure the Intel Quartus® Prime Pro software for this use case.

Please follow the below steps to to specify the Power Management and VID parameters and options:

  1. Create an Intel Quartus Prime project using the New Project Wizard available from the File menu.
  2. On the Assignments menu, click Device.
  3. On the Device and Pin Options dialog box, click Configuration.
  4. On the Configuration page, specify the VID Operation mode.
    1. There are two modes available—PMBus Master and PMBus Slave.
  5. On the Device and Pin Options dialog box, click Power Management and VID
    to specify the device settings if your device setting is in the PMBus Master mode.
    Click 
    OK.
  6. For the power management and VID parameters that can be used with Enpirion Digital regulators
    1. Bus Speed mode  : 400KHz/100KHz
      • Enpirion Regulator support both speeds.
    2. Slave device type  : EM21xx
      • Please select “EM21xx, EM22xx or ED84xx” for Enpirion parts
    3. PMBus device X slave address
      • Input the PMBus slave address of Enpirion regulator set by customer.
    4. Voltage output format : Auto discovery/Direct format/Linear format
      • Enpirion only support the Linear format and the N coefficient is -13
      • When using Auto discovery, please set the direct coefficient m/b/R to 0
        • When the slave device operates in Linear mode, Auto discovery can be used too
    5. Don't Enable PAGE command
      • Enpirion doesn't support Page command
