We have been using the Agilex™ 7 R-Tile Compute Express Link* (CXL*) FPGA . We are not seeing any electrical activity on the link adn no traininig is happening . Our assumption is that the bitstream of the FPGA is already present and we should see the link trained on our hosts but that is not happening at the moment . Can you help us find out why there is no activity on the link ?

Hi,

Before addressing your question, I would like to clarify a few things:

  1. Are you using the Rtile FPGA DEV KIT and the CXL example design? If so, could you specify the model and Quartus version you are using?
  2. Since CXL is based on PCIe 5.0, have we successfully run the PCIe 5.0 example design on the same card and correctly identified the device?
  3. Additionally, have you checked whether your system supports the CXL protocol?

Best regards,
WZ

1. Yes I am using the FPGA dev kit to deploy the CXL design that is already implemented . My assumption was that the hardware will be plug and play unless I need to change something in the design on the FPGA. I am using Quartus 23.1 . I have been following this manual "Agilex™ 7 FPGA I-Series Development Kit User Guide"  . I see the license listed  on Intel® FPGA Self-Service Licensing CenterThe problem right now is that I do not have a computer associated with this fixed license.

When I try to add a new host , I see a window and I do not understand the fields here . Is there a document that I could follow to fill these in ?

2. Once I have access to this I would like to enable the inherent cxl design and try using it . I hope the path I am following to get this thing work is the right one.

3. Yes, the system I am using supports cxl and other cxl 2.0 devices work on it .

Hi there,

Although I'm not very familiar with the system you mentioned, I believe the computer name and ID listed in your picture should correspond to the "Device Name" and "Device ID" found in "System -> About". If my answer is incorrect, you can submit a case related to lic (apologies, I am unable to help you copy the case  to them in this system). They have more experience in this area than I do.

Best regards,
WZ
