I ran into a dead end trying to install this software.
My current OS is win 7 professional and installed windows 8.1 sdk. 2012 x86 redistributable is installed.
When I run the installation, I receive this error code
Execution of installation profess failed
Module name: rtools_setup_64x.exe
Application returned error code 1603
Any help would be appreciated.

Another suggestion I have is to select a custom install and deselect the Remote Debugger. This was used for debugging code running on Xeon Phi coprocessors, something Intel no longer offers (and almost nobody used on Windows.)

So I tried all the suggested things. They haven't worked. Thanks for the attempt though. I tried running the module that returned the 1603 error by itself to see the specific issue with the file.
The rtools_setup_64x.exe returned a error that said 'Error 25541. Failed to open xml C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\v2.0.50727\Config\machine.config
System error -2147024786
Would posting the installation log help?

Have you checked if
C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\v2.0.50727\Config\machine.config
exists?
If not, maybe the following helps:

And also use a more recent version of the product, if you can.
