CVF over IVF

Dear Steve:

I spent many happy hours buried inside Microsoft Fortran and enjoyed the experience enormously. When Powerstation followed by the CVF iteration came out I did not enjoy the experience. These compilers generated bugs that were hard to follow and find in the code. So I put aside programming with Fortran for a longish time. I had a lot offun in LISP.

Can I say that the IVF compiler is excellent and back to the standard in terms of ease of use of the original Microsoft Fortran. That is the gold standard as far as I am concerned.

The IVF team are to be thanked and admired for this effort. Perhaps you could give them an extra glass of chocolate milk in the morning, because from what I have seen of the programmers around here most are not old enough to drink.

Perhaps you could pass long my thanks.

PS: You do a good job, you have some hoary old bastards to deal with - lol.

Of course Listran would be perfect.

You are welcome. But I will also note that the IVF team is, largely, the same folks who brought you CVF.

As Bill Cosby said to his wife " We going to keep running that play till we get it right."

It is now a better product and programming in Fortran is enjoyable again.
