CVF to IVF migration

I installed the upgrade version of MS Visual Studio 2005 Pro (I used CVF 6.0, and still have it installed), then tried to install the IVF compiler (v 9), and got the message "setup will not run without Intel C++ or Fortran Compiler 8.1 or higher version", even though C++ is available in Visial Studio. What's the problem?

Thanks.

That is a very odd message - I can't recall having seen it before and am not sure what it refers to.

Please submit an issue to Intel Premier Support with a description of the problemand attach a screenshot showing the error and also one of the Help..About box in Visual Studio 2005.

I did not know that there was an "upgrade version of MS Visual Studio 2005" - I haven't run across that one.

I'll try again before going to Premier support!

I am trying to move from CVF.I have used it for years, but it is no longer supported by Compaq/HP, who recommended migrating to IVF. There are several options for a platform from which to use IVF. One of them is MS Visual Studio 2005 w/C++. On the outside of the Visual Studio box I boughtis stamped "UPGRADE This software will install only if you are a licensed user of a qualyfying product." My CVF is a qualifying product, hence I was able to install Visual Studio 2005. The error message in my earlier posting was recorded verbatim.

I hope this clarifies things.

Well, that's the first I have heard of such an upgrade, and while I'm sure that Microsoft would not have considered CVF to be an eligible product, perhaps the installer couldn't tell the difference. I'm quite familiar with the history of CVF, as I was a developer on that product for its entire lifetime.

I would like to see a screenshot of the Help..About box in Visual Studio. Can you attach that to a post here? (use the Options tab)

Ah, light dawns on Marblehead, as we say in New England. You're using the old version 9.0 whose installer presents a series of "install" buttons, and you're choosing the last button, which installs the IDE integration, first. Please select the first button, for the IA-32 compiler, and let that finish. When it's done, then you can choose the Visual Studio integration install.

In the current version 9.1 the buttons are replaced with checkboxes and there's a single button for installing, which then does them in the correct order.

I'd recommend logging in to the Intel Registration Center and getting the current product version, 9.1.033.

Thank you very much. I followed your recommendation and successfully installed the 9.1 version. Registration was a bit tricky, but everything is working now.
