Compiler's upgrade and license

Hello,
I have a floating license running on flexlm for ifort version 9. I wish to upgrade to version 10.1, can I keep the same license? During installation I indicate the server with 28518@host, but it tells me that the license is not valid.

Intel licenses are not tied to versions, but rather to "support date". In your license file (please do not post the whole thing here nor the serial number), there will be a field of the form yyyy.mmdd, for example, 2008.0531. This means that this license is good for compilers released through May 31, 2008. It may be that your "9.1" license is old enough that its support date has expired. This would prevent you from installing a compiler released after the support expiration date.

If the support has expired, you can purchase support renewal. Each purchase extends the support date by one year. For more information, see here.
